Post list of things that you want to see on Starbound.

  1. Akado

    Akado Oxygen Tank

    - I want a "2D Scanner" item that can scan player-built structures, recognize the material cost in blocks/pixels, and then duplicate them.
This would allow for MUCH easier city building, and could either require pixel cost, or material cost to balance the loss of time investment.

    - I want a reason to not "Go Floran" on any town I encounter.
The next town I find could have new items to buy and I've already bought everything I need from this one (hundreds of cooking materials, blueprints, and every shade of vanity item). Yes, I understand the irony of me saying this.

    - I don't want to Terraform existing planets, I want to "craft" new planets using block types of my choosing, as well as being able to choose enemy strength and scarcity.
Being needy, I also want difficulty to correspond with the level and frequency of rewards.
Crafting new planets would remove the "griefing" aspect that could exist with Terraforming on public servers.
This might mess with the worldgen engine, but I'm willing to make that sacrifice (cost: your time, reward: my enjoyment) because I'm just that magnimonious.

    - I want the ability to "customize" existing weapons, both melee and ranged.
This could either require pixels or found/crafted parts that exist only for this purpose, or it could require the sacrifice of existing weaponry to transfer components of that weapon onto another weapon.
This would allow for transfer of elemental properties on melee weapons, but might be considered for swing rate which would indirectly modify damage per hit.
This would allow for transfer of ammo types on ranged weapons, but might be considered for fire rate which would indirectly modify damage per hit.
I would NOT want this to modify DPS, as I think it is more fun to find "stronger" weapons, rather than knowing you can make them.
I would NOT want this to modify energy usage per shot for ranged weapons, as I feel that should be a calculated stat, to balance guns.

    - I want a way to raise the "planet core" lava height, so that my underlava towns will eventually reach the surface layer, and still be under lava.
Akado's Lavaworlds are hot stuff, don't try to deny it.

    - I want two tiers of NPC Spawners: One that gives a random NPC of that class, and one that allows customization of the NPC of that class.
This would help a lot for "themed" towns, and prevents that awkward moment immediately preceding a bloodbath when a Floran Guard and a Hylotl Scientist both spawn on my ship. Seriously, that takes forever to clean up.

    - I want a way to produce oxygen for player or NPC structures on moons and asteroid fields.
The Death Star is a very well-recognized object, and having players proudly advertising your game and tying it to Star Wars would be great word of mouth.

    - I want the ability to detect the existence of player-made structures on public servers.
I think this would be a great help on public servers, to know if a planet has been strip mined already (and shouldn't be visited) or if a planet is a thriving metropolis of urbania, and should be avoided if you just want to go look for ores.
This could be an Admin Option, defaulted to "OFF", so that it would not cause any performance change for Single Player.

    - I want the ability to make something that can protect bases or specific areas against meteors.
I like the idea of building a base on a largely-inhospitable world. That way, my base can have some privacy, as many people would not like to deal with meteors, and thus would not mess up my base.

    - I want the ability for player made structures to NOT be destructible by other players.
    Yup. I do.

    - I want it all.
    See above.

  2. Tamorr

    Tamorr Supernova

    upgradable ships/modular ships
craftable materials (making existing stuff craftable at some point, even if it is a higher tier that you would be able to do so.)
Hylotl stuff (dungeons, villages, and planets)
    Human villages
More dungeons, villages, planet types (city planets come to mind, hollow ones, ring worlds, satellites, derelict ships, and the like along side other biome types)
The nav UI they are working on. (hopefully eventually certain parts of it are learned upgrades)
More vanity items (all types; back, armor, clothing, etc...)
The system they intend for the setup (that which replaces the tier placeholder stuff)
    quests & questlines
versatility in recipe modding (So you can separate recipes to various things to craft them from. example: have crafting & pixel printer separate, so recipes learned by blueprint drop don't unlock both with that command.)
    Selling in general
Raids (you know like random events that happen to cause this type of events)
    More events in general
    More weather types
More default races (if that was an option)
If not the above, at least have something like the creation extended mod; where you can add more modded races without having to worry about space on the creation UI.
Renting (the thing they have in mind)
Building options (being able to save a schematic of a custom build, and place as a whole if you have enough materials. Thinks like that.)
More materials (specifically things like beams & pillar type blocks; like the pipe material found in the sewers or the girders found in prisons.)
More weapons & armor variety (pretty sure that is being worked on eventually)
More farming items (Foods, crops, and possible tools)
More monster variety (Attacks, AI, looks, biome specific, bosses, etc...)
NPCs (AI, friendly not killed by friendly turrets, spawned ones not killed by your sword<possible optional>, safe zone option(where certain areas you can not kill friendlies if option is set, and other various things to do with NPCs to give a feel for the universe being lived in, like the colonies mod)
    More tech options
    More vehicles/mechs
In game character delete (think this being thought of at a later part of the beta)
In game key binding (think this being thought of at a later part of the beta)
Some form of a difficulty that is not just based on pixels and character deletion. (don't know if that will happen but would be nice)
Logs (Ones you can make yourself as you travel on your adventure, plus maybe marking planets with info you want to note; ie Like you build this on this planet or that planet built that...)
    DM mode
container balance (where the size determines amount of space, unless it is a scientific advanced storage unit; in which case more variety in size with those internally.)
tier balance being finished or close to it for namely the higher tiers
More weapon attributes (you know the poison, fire, etc... if possible that is)
Also like above, more defenses to resist attributes (armors providing resistance to poison, back items doing such or radial placements that protect against things like acid rain.)

That is all I can think of off hand. Some of which I know are being worked on, but this is a list of things I wouldn't mind seeing. :D

  3. TheFudgement

    TheFudgement Ketchup Robot

    - More mechs and other kinds of vehicles, including tanks.

    - Missing towns, and more content to the existing ones (Like shops selling vanity items, placeable items etc.).

    - Cybernetic implants that affect the characters (Night vision, strength, health bonuses).

    - "Normal" rifles, not snipers .

    - Risk of Rain items and references.

    - Mountable guns and re-texture for those ugly sentries.

    - Ability to choose a career, like mercenary or a farmer.

    - Infiltrating to dungeons by wearing the same armor/clothes the enemies do, or turning invisible.

    - Founding organizations or joining them (Like USCM or Miniknog), then hiring members and colonizing/raiding planets with style like they did in Avatar. Bulldozers for crushing local flora, fauna and natives.

    - Some kind of threat that people should defend themselves and their home planets against (Agarans, those demon things, other races, pirates...)

    - Those furry dices for spaceships, bonus points for empty food packages, dirty clothes and other things those fit into spaceships...

    - Artillery.

    - Space battles --> When you disable the enemy ship it can be looted in space or on the planet it fell on.

    - Other ways to get vanity items than just finding random chests. You should find them from places they "Belong" to, like miner helmets from mines and hoodies from merchants etc.

    - Ammunition instead of energy. Batteries for shock weapons, lead for "Real" guns and gas/crystals/whatever for lasers. Options for choosing golden bullets, explosive rounds and so on.

    - Non-humanoid civilized enemies. Giant lizards of whatever.

    - Selling stuff and... services.

    - Space stations, manned and abandoned ones.

    - Gas mask vanity item(s).

wow! now THATS a list! lol
i really dont disagree with any of it.
i really liked the derelict ship idea. make it a fairly random and rare event and it gives you a chance at a ship upgrade piece or ship tech, like a portable teleporter that you can carry underground. a planet scanner . lots of possibilities.

Oh and one more... Hunting rifles that work similar to the bows and hunting knife; dropping leather & meat. Could be a possible upgrade from those items.

Pretty much what Akado said, but maybe in addition also something like:

    - Strong electromagnetic fields driving people crazy on certain planets (noteable by inversed colorscheme, hallucinations, taking damage in darkness, talking nonsense randomly). Thats similar to the Psi Zones in the Stalker games where peoople turn crazy because either a giant oversized brain is creating somehow a strong electromagnetic field or they got to close to a "Brainmelter" which is basicly an antenna projecting said strong fields.

    - Psi-Powers/Psychic abilities at some point for your character... I mean we got mobs with Telekinesis/Psychokinesis, why not allowing our character to launch certain projectiles. Also some weirder stuff like a "psychic railgun" which basicly accelerates needles at extreme high speed or a "psychic beam"... in general such powers maybe.

    - More evil humans.

    - More content to those Demons. I dont want to see a new species like the Agaran (though they are interesting.) I rather would like to see the current ones improved.

    - Add a working wall penetrating railgun

    - R34 mechanics. never add that please!

    - Giving me a hint where I can find a mob looking like Gardevoir if possible ;)

    Serpensio Big Damn Hero

-custom building blueprints (make a structure, scan it, place it anywhere, provided enough materials)

-more hunting weapons (rifles, higher tier bows, dart guns, slings, slingshots, compound bows, hunting spear/javelin etc.)

-more hunting mechanics (at least make some mobs drop alien bacon)

-more variety of weapons/weapon mechanics (whips, flails, variety of scythes, slings throwing rocks, directional radio emitting sensory scrambler (DRESS - confuses mobs without causing damage), gravity gun (acts like a psi attack), centipede (sends a centipede to attack the enemy), electromagnetic grabber (acts like a grab attack), etc.)
--Also, variety in form/crafting material requirements (plant-"grown"/built weapons, high-tech electro-weapons, primitive stone weapons, general purpose metal-fashioned weapons, black-box "magical" weapons)
--Also scalable weapon effects (Actually, just meld tier stats sideways rather than straight up, so that tier 1 damage effects are effective no matter where you go and what you face)
--Custom craftable ammunition for certain projectile weapons (Please let me craft poison-laced lead bullet slugs, obsidian arrowheads, electro-arrowheads, electro-stun bullet slugs, needle projectiles, fire arrows/bullets, etc. And charged battery/capacitor packs for lasers and other electronic shooting weapons)

-pet breeding (mix and match the animal parts to get a creature of your desire - like a Gardevior)
--more creature parts variety (more specifically: robot parts, snake parts, plant-animal parts (styled after floran grown furniture), slime/goo parts, and Pokemon-type parts (Kirlia, Miltank, Tauros, Gothitelle, Haunter, Onix, Ditto, Milotic, and Mawile, specifically)
--Large, tiny, and gigantic animal parts (and by gigantic, I mean aged brontosaurus-super-sized, not "slightly taller than the character"-sized or "double character height"-sized

    -Floran plant-grown mechs

-upgradeable Axes Please (I'm tired of using a cobblestone hatchet), and actual reasons for upgrading (like higher tier trees are too strong to be cut with simply stone.
--Obsidian axes would be cool, electrovibrometic axes would be cooler, laser cutters would just be OP

-more crafting recipes with current materials
--can I please do something with slime blocks?
--I can make a wooden crate with wood, but why can't I make a metal crate at my metalworking station?
    --vine clothing please?
    --bone weapons
--more kinds of food and more complicated recipes
--more intermediate crafting parts for complete items
--more different crafting materials required for recipes

    -more crafted items

    -better AI
--creatures that don't, of themselves, jump into environmental hazards, or have evolved immunity to them

-wider breadth of options, rather than purely stat-upgrades (particularly with regards to tier unlocks)

-visual indicators of common meteorite activity on planets (meteorite mini-biomes)
--meteorites that fall way out of the way off-screen rather than directly over the character, every, single, time.
--residual meteorite mini-biomes after small meteor impacts

-more weather-types (Venus clouds, lightning strikes, firestorms, tornados, fire cyclones, hail cyclones, tornados/hurricanes, falling ash, volcanic eruption - falling rocks

-more environmental hazards (sticky tar, sticky mud, bramble biome, hot stone, steam jets, poison gas vents, flame spurts, avalanching rocks, sharp crystal, carnivorous plant-traps, boiling water, primordial soup biome, volcanoes/erupting lava tubes, hardening lava (sticky magma)

-more biomes (primordial soup biome, bramble-thicket biome, lake biome, deep surface chasm, giant biome (most everything is giant-sized), hot-springs biome, deep core biome, meteorite biome, Floran forest biome, tall rock spires biome, metal biome)

-flatter world terrain generation, with fewer steep hills, to allow better visualization of the unique terrain features featured in the background: ice chunks, rock spires, ice spikes, rock mesas, etc. Make these unique and interesting features more noticeable..

    - removal of all "stone age" items, replaced with stuff more appropriate for a sci-fi setting. do not want terreria in space, want starbound.

If Chucklefish started out saying that T1 is the stone age, but very rapidly accelerated to the Space Age (maybe even modern era) by Tier 4, would that work? If they split up the game into different "eras" like in Secret of Evermore, this could be a good thing. What if they had stone age stuff for 1-2 tiers, then modern weaponry and tools for 1-2 tiers, then space age, and then all-out sci-fi fantasy mode for the rest of the game? This would be somewhat of a balance between "New stuff as soon as we found the last batch of new stuff" and "No new stuff ever" which kinda is how things are now.

Since we already have assets and some structural blocks for "prehistoric" stuff, I think it's a decent idea to use that, although I agree that we really should move beyond it. If Diamond Pickaxes are soooo last century, what are Stone Axes?

and i am saying that this "tier equals tech level" is stupid, and i'd like to see something that agrees with the setting instituted in it's place. i feel that the whole handwave is to keep aspects of terreria. i mean, the best weapons that you can make are essentially a block of metal on the end of a stick.
