They never said neither of these things, so please don't spread misinformation and stop turning this thread to a mess.

    Same here.

You can try to start a server or launch the game but it will always just give the chuckle sound and the logo appears with the black background.
Then nothing happens from there. No further response from the client from there.

Thanks for the idea, but this did not work for me. It won't minimize, no matter how I tell my computer to minimize it.

If it's taking too long to load and cannot be played on XP, it isn't compatible.

As soon as I hit the start game, beta window pops up for a second then vanishes yet the process still runs... Is it the same problem?

Windows 7 here, same issue. Crashes at chuckle logo.

  16. Same here it becomes completely unresponsive and cannot be clicked on.

Also starting and closing a server did nothing for me.

I'm having the same issue also. It stops responding at the Chucklefish logo.
Windows XP Home 32 bit SP3.
    AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 5200+ 2.71GHz.
4GB (3.25 GM RAM usable for 32 bit)
    Soundblaster Audigy SE
    Radeon HD 4670 IceQ w/ 512 DDR3 VRAM

I tried running it via the launcher, via safe mode with opengl, I tried running it directly from the exe as administrator (kind of pointless as my user profile is admin by default) tried turning off Steam overlay, tried turning off my Anti-Virus active scan, tried turning off the anti-virus in general, tried turning off my firewall, tried turning off security stuff in general, tried letting it set several minutes, tried setting priority to normal (starts as High for some reason), tried setting affinity to just one CPU core, tried verifying files, tried installing Visual C++ redistributable package, nothing works aside from the Chucklefish logo popping up.
Monitoring with Task Manager on a few attempts., it goes 'Not Responding' and drops to 0 CPU usage and stops at roughly 644 MB RAM used (or a little under 50MB opengl/safe mode) within a few seconds of the Chucklefish logo appearing.

The log is a bit bare.

Ah, the wonderful world of pre-release games. Stuff breaks... sometimes very often... resulting in doing non game playing things like spending an hour staring at the Chuckefish logo many times over while troubleshooting.
Such is the risk of early access games.
It is the basis of Murphy's Law. If something can go wrong, it will go wrong.
Not much to do other than to wait and let the devs sort things out.
If this was a full release or a release candidate, I could see a reason to be up in arms, but not for an early access/beta version.

    Edited.
Oops, wrong VRAM amount. I have 512, not 256.

Technically if the problem is just that it is taking too long to load, and maybe windows is shutting it down or it is shutting down because of how long it is taking, I believe that is an optimization problem, not an incompatibility...
Likely it is due to an oversight, or a lack of familiarity with how XP would handle some of the processes.

Running 64bit XP, I guess my issue is a little different. Most frequently it will hang at the Chucklefish logo, but eventually after a minute or two the process halts using CPU and the mem usage freezes, at that point I usually restart the game and about 10% of the time it will actually show me the main menu. I can create a character, but of the 7 or so times I have managed to attempt to enter a game (either a multi-player server or single-player,) it freezes immediately with no load screen, and again it simply hangs like it does at the logo screen usually.

I hope the issues are effectually the same and they can get out a fix. I'm downloading the supported version of Ubuntu right now for funsies, to see if it works any better.
