    Ok I can play, that's cool, but I feel that the game is in "survive mode" than a "game mode", it's lagging and is slow at limit of unplayable.

    P(R) 3.1 ghz 2core
    ram ddr3 2gb
    asus EAH5450 1gb ddr3
    xp sp3

    One time I get a full crash with screen full of mixed and random pixels (was afraid for my video card), steam crash too
    Hope the patch will be clear of lags...

    I kinda forgot to add to the list of confirmations yesterday, but, _Sammy_'s fix worked 100%. My friend and I were able to even hang out on multiplayer without a hitch for multiple hours =D thanks so much for fixing it _Sammy_ =D

    They did say that it was laggy even in singleplayer, but at least it runs for now =3

    Edit: as a side note, it ran MUCH faster using the openGL version of the .exe :D
    lag was almost completely gone for my friend.

    For the developers,
    My friends specs are as follows:

    OS: Windows XP Professional 5.1, Build 2600
    CPU: Intel core 6320 @ 1.86Ghz (dual core)
    RAM: 2046MB
    Graphics: AMD Radeon HD 6450

    Sammy's fix worked for me, though only when coupled with the CPU affinity trick. Worked fine altogether besides some FPS drops when beaming down from the ship and loading up the crafting screens.

    Using the ship beam platform and navigation controls crash a lot. The navigation controls crash every single time I use them. I tried to go to a server and use the controls and it immediately shut down. Other than those issues, the dll works.

    aww =( what are your system specs Alec? maybe someone can help you out?

    To get the information you need, go to start>run> type in dxdiag and then tell us your CPU, RAM and in the graphics tab, your graphics card's name

    To re-cap for anyone reading, Alec's problem is on page 32 near the bottom.

    you maybe should go back to a resolution of 1024x768 or so, and i mean that for everyone where the SDL fix works and having a slower pc, the SDL fixx has actually a weakness thatone is that it dosnt accepts the new setted resolution instantly, even after a restart of the game, but that is easlily fixxed by going for short into fullscreen and back into window modeX3 the SDL fixx is a great work, the guy who made that fixx should work for chucklefish tooX3 that SDL fixx (sadly) works mostly only for Nvidia cuz i gave the SDL fixx to a few other friends and 2 of them had a asus graphic card and a ATI graphic card, the others had the Nvidia series installed or using Nvidia =x so, it could be a graphic card issue? idk o3o i am happy that i can play O3O i crashed only ince when i wanted to jump to a new planet but it never happened againX3 its a great fixx for those where it starts to work and making it throught the character creation without any trouble <3 big compliment to the SDL fixx creator >w<

    Funny thing - when I played Starbound couple of hours with _Sammy_ fix I always get crash when start travel to another planet and sometimes when i teleport to current planet, but with opengl mode I didn`t get crash even once, do all that stuff for 1-2 hours and game was stable:D
    I got even more fps - in normal mode, with launcher game few times freeze, when music changed from peaceful to battle music, but eventually game get back to normal. Once it crash without any error.. with this fix such things didn`t happened, but game slows down sometimes in this moments instead of freeze.

    Worked WONDERS for me. Game runs beautifully smoothly, no crashes until some 4-5 hours of play, I avoided the bed just in case though. That's what bandages are for. Towns got a little choppy for me, but otherwise that fix was honestly perfect. Thank you a ton, Sammy. Seriously.

    I've had this happen as well (haven't tried opengl mode yet). Also, sometimes when I opened the starmap the graphics would go screwy in a way I can only describe as just how my NES would get screwy graphics when there was dust in the cartridge, before coming back to normal, albeit at a very low res.

    Okay, a unofficial Patch is made and it seems to work mostly, or not. But let me ask, what about an official Patch to fix the problems the game run with XP ? I mean, this is the job of the devs to fix this, because they offer the Beta also for XP.
    I read a list for the next upcomming patch and there the XP problem and a solution is not listed.
    So what do you think, folks. Can we hope for the game is run with no problems with XP, sometimes, or must we buy Win7 to play Starbound, or shall we ask for refound ?

    I was geting crashs too but that _Sammy_ fix stopped it lets hope the patch fixs it for good.

    It seems I too also crashed when trying to move planets with the Sammy fix. However I was able to be on friends ships while they're moving planets. This seems odd, but more information, nonetheless!

    The fix doesn't exactly work for me, at least, not to the extent that it works for some others. All it allows me to do is get past the loading screen (in half a minute flat no less) and make a new character.
    When the character is chosen I get a stacktrace error. The errorlog shows these:

    What video card? someone earlier mention that this fix probably works mostly for people with nvidia cards and I see that theres some render errors.
