Did you die an inordinate amount of times fighting two tier 3 encounters in side-quests from what was essentially a starter town? When all you had was Tier 1 gear?
That's what my first non-tutorial day was like.

Nailed it sir. I have had some minor mechanical quibbles which I dropped on the suggestion forum; and I actually came here looking for information on where in the world I go to scan items for the pixel printer now (this thread appeared when I searched for pixel printer)

Anyway this thread has been an interesting read; but it's almost comically the reverse of how me and my friends have been experiencing the game. We have been having a blast. I may be the only one of the 7 of us who even HAS a forum account; let alone is bothering to get on to make suggestions or read other people's reactions.

I'm...sad. Yes, this is the best world I can use to describe how i feel after playing 1.0. There is SO MUCH potential in this game, and yet...I have a feeling that developers stuck somewhere between their own plans and ideas, and community ideas and suggestions and then they didnt polish, or finish any of this. And now they realise that it's time to release the game because....why not so they did it. With a lot of strange decisions.

Why did they chopped down different SAIL all of sudden? Or some character creation choises: hairs ect.? It was so RAM - consuming so they did that for fps improvement sake? Because I don't feel any improvement.
Planet - Tier system is still a butthurt for me. Why there can't be any high-tier forest or desert planets? They had so much cool weapons desing but I can't have any of them in late-geme because they are so useless...
Why did they chopped down races intros and they different story? They put so much effort on them, showing us fragments, and now suddenly they throw it out and put this...Protectorat. Another galactic federation :/

I have a feeling, that if i will longer play this, i will find more and more annoyng things about 1.0. Which is so sad for me, because i want to love this game. I really do! I want to play it and have ton of joy, but i have problem with findin it in it.
Or maybe years in EA just make my dreams too big and reality is now killing them :C

I was playing it in the mornings, currently up to the first mission after exploring around the first planet for chests. and wondering about the details of the food system, it seems to keep well enough, especially if you take a campfire with you. I'm used to and enjoy the sandbox gameplay, so I'm not tearing through the whole of the campaign in one sitting.

Tahts what agmers call a big shallow sea. yes tons of content, yet nothign of this si hallanging. where are the real taugh fossiles to get? where are the sepcial hidden hard to aquire codizes? it's all just randomsied without any challange. There is nothign exsciting in it and thats the issue. It's like an occupational therapy but not like an adventure and exploring should be about adventures.

Completely agree with you on everything here. Brilliant post.

Also anyone remember THIS little number?:

"The developers confirmed there will be at least one unique mech per race at launch"

    So where are they??

what I'm mostly frustrated with is the face that everything is now LOCKED into specific categories- you can't shuffle your inventory as well as you used to to hold more items. The fact that food items no longer stack really, really sucks. It also doesn't do a very good job at explaining things. I can't even figure out how to fuel my ship at the moment, and I've played more than my fair share of this game before this version. Is there something special you have to do with coal to make it work? Like... what? And upgrading the matter manipulator! What the heck? (for reals, I am SO sick of starting from scratch.) The tools bar is stupid, IMO as well. What's the point of "equipping" something if it's STILL going to take up space in your inventory?? I like SOME of the changes they've made, but honestly? I am so far, not impressed.

Maybe pay attention to what SAIL tells you. Coal is not fuel. Only Eruchius is fuel. You also don't need fuel for travel INSIDE the solar system of a star

and this is subjective. I'm having tons of fun with this game, and some things are challenging for me. but even still, it's a side-scroller game lol. how hard can you get without being super cheap a la Castlevania?
you want hard-to-acquire codices? explore the boss missions.

Typing from my phone so apologize for typos.

I was actually browsing the forums to see what end-game held. And it appears my fears are correct. After maybe 6 hours into the game I am running around in full Solarium armor I ha e done 3 of the artifact missions and plan to do the rest when I can next play. Most of the people on my server are enjoying it and take it slow. I had 160-ish hours before 1.0 I was seriously hoping there was more meat to the content. Though to be fair there may be something post final missions this thread doesn't give me alot of hope.

I remember there being talks about some sort of challenging end game. I understand if that was scrapped, but I am still sad if it was. I suppose I'll be another tally in the "Let's find MODS to make it fun." Box.

Well, I have problem of being pretty addicted to this game. Last time I played in beta days, I didn't play for much to avoid early access burnout thing.

Game does feel like a lot of "Hey would this be cool" ideas thrown kinda randomly in a sandbox so it doesn't really feel unified. And I'm sure there are features that developers thought would be cool that aren't still in the game at release. Seems still like pretty good game to me even though it could be better.

BTW, just since a lot of people talk about Stardew Valley: How many people realize its basically indie version of Harvest Moon? .-. I haven't played it yet, but it seems to have all the same basic stuff Harvest Moon has. If someone can note me how they are different, that'd be nice

I geuss thats liek pop said, for some it is a challange. now you may knwo what kind of audience the game was designed for.

I just hope at some point devs bring back the X sector as an extention making all planets high threat and hiding some cool stuff in a hard environment.

reducing party size and removing the planet chat was really hitting the multiplayer part of the game. this isn't a medieval game so you would expect people being able to speak with each other over radio. Esther can even communicate to us from her cyber granny chair.

I can't tell if you're just insulting people who don't find the existing game as Shallow as you do; and/or insulting people who find any part of the existing game challenging.

It's a good release build. I am fairly hopeful they will add additional end game content; but I'm not really sure what you were expecting in terms of difficulty because from the beginning this game has been billed as considerably more laid back than Terraria.

Its a bad release build, sry so many half done things and quick slapped out stuff. Just go throug all the features SB has and see what they lack to even properly make them workable. There are many tiny detailed things showing that most parts they are not completely designed and programmed to the end.

And why do you think I insult someone? there are just different kind of players and most of the time you can see towards which kind of a player a developer the developer creates his game. knowing to which audience it leans to is in no way an insult its just a statement.

A ) Bad release compared to what? Your expectations? If so then we're at an impasse since other than a few mechanical quibbles which could be tweaked, modded, or removed It is almost everything I expected it to be (If a bit late).
B ) Because your statement implies that it is in fact a bad thing. Sorry but that's just the way it read.

  19. LilyV3

    LilyV3 Master Astronaut

bad in terms of how finished the parts of the games are.

    Hoverbikes still fly like crap.
Farming animals can't be dragged around (or is there any secret about that one), they don't even need food or stuff and magically can survive on every planets conditions (as much as NPC's).
Giant galaxy yet every planet (even the "dead" ones are inhabitated. That does not make sense, it's just a state of the current generator doing this.
The "story" isn't actually good, it's just 5x the same scanstuff with a slight endbosslevel. the endboss levels are good, but so many plot about the races was just thrown away, thats just a heavy reduction of what already existed. Hows that not bad?
Drills and Pickaxes hardly make any sense, they break too fast and are no comparable challange for the MM past 5 hours of gameplay. They are just remains form a time where they were repairable and are far off from balance.
Pistols and assault rifles are still in a bad shape, and quite alot "abilities" of some melees are just useless.
Farming animals grow faster than even the plants.
There is still the asteroid layer FAAAR above the planets, yet after they erased endless movement techs (god did we had nice ones back then compared to now) a loooong time ago this serves no purpose, I guess less than 0,1% players even go there ever, not even spekaing about those who use that.
    .
    .
    .

I could easily write a LOOOONG list fo things that are just not finsihed and there are surely quite alot other people here in the Forum knowing about these.

All that CF did was slapping a release label on just another of the beta stages. So no its not a good release, its a bad one because people buying a released game expect one that has most features finished, yet SB has most features unfinished. New players won't see that instantly, but with time they will realise that.

The gap between our expectations for the release seems to be generating all of the disagreement. I am bored of this; as its just an entirely subjective disagreement and I don't want to write essays about minutia when I could be either posting on the suggestion forums or playing the game.
