Possible Spoilers about Penny/Sam.

Just to be clear, I directed my post to EVERYONE in this thread, I am not about to get involved in any petty squabbles between specific people.

 

I have a simple solution, why not just let everyone believe what they want to believe about this and just shut down this thread for good, since I kinda feel like everyone in here just wants to kinda win a pointless argument?

 

Chances are another one will just be started, I bet.

I made a comment which didn't really attack anyone, then he comes to a different thread just to attack me. I don't see the point of bumping up this thread when you speculate about gossips. This is a fun game, the discussion shouldn't be this hostile, just play and enjoy the game.

 

This thread needs to just get shut down, once it devolves into a hive of hatred and contention.. it kind of loses it's original purpose. Heck, hire me to go around shutting down contentious threads, and laying the smack down on rude people. I wouldn't mind doing that haha.

 

Alrighty then,

I've gone through several recent posts and dealt with violations accordingly. I'm going to unlock this thread so you can continue to discuss things, but please confine your discussion to relationships with various NPCs (preferably Penny and Sam per the title) and keep the insults and insinuations out of it. This thread is on its last chance, any more of this petty arguing and it'll be closed for good.

I think this particular subject won't really go any further until the post-marriage patch comes through. Speculating what could be changing would be fine though, but since we know it is going to change, everything we know is now subject to change.

 

I just feel like the issue I read with Penny is that people want a "pure" girl (Small town girl in a sense). People find that her having casual sex to be a worse offend than the apparent cheating. Are you guys really exclusive at that point? Both Sam and Penny are consenting adults, so even if it did happen, I don't see it as a big issue. Personally, people are reading too much into what Vincent said. I thought it was pretty innocent, I don't think they had sex. Note, that you know Penny for less than a year while Penny and Sam know each other for many years.

 

It seems pretty innocent, yeah...however...there's some hidden implications that can be read into it depending on your status with her. If you've given her the bouquet, then you're both "dating"...at which point, it seems not so innocent. If you're not dating, then...well...it's her own right, even if what is somewhat insinuated DID happen.

They're meant to hook up if you don't get with her anyway, so...chances are that YOU'RE probably stealing her from HIM, anyway. It doesn't seem like she's really experienced, though...so...I think it's all a moot point.

It's definitely a moot point anyway, because as OriSein said, CA is working on re-doing the marriage stuff. Hopefully he puts in flags where if you've either already married Penny, or at least given her the bouquet, the line Vincent says there is DIFFERENT (mentions a different person or something, maybe, I dunno). Just get rid of the "dirty" implications altogether. ^^

 

Let's not forget that every fricking Luau who is Penny standing with, off from the crowd?! None other than that POS Sam!!! I think that just about settles things.

 

I also assume that it happens before the bonquet, just like scenes can happen out of order, I have the 10 hearts even with Haley before farm scene with her. I'm 100% sure it wouldn't even be CA's intention that people perceive the scene as such. If people choose to interpret this out of what the creator's intended then I honestly don't know what to say.

I always see it as CA redoing the marriage dialogues, post marriage stuffs, not pre-marriage especially for something people misinterpreted.

Just like with almost all the Harvest Moon games, there is a male and female counterpart that is intended as a couple. Alex and Haley have definitely hooked up or at least kiss, but there are less obvious couples like Maru and Harvey. Maru said straight out that Harvey is not her type, but that only happens at high relationship, so not sure how much we can trust it. Haley and Alex on the otherhand don't deny it and basically tell the other ones they're not seeing each other anymore. Sam and Penny are a bit ambiguous, so it's not as clear cut as Haley/Alex or Maru/Harvey. It's just up to your interpretation, but you don't see them hang out that often though, so we don't know how close they are to each other. Even Leah and Fabio have more together time than Sam and Penny where they both stare at a lake or something.

 

The event triggers regardless if you give Penny the bouquet - I got Penny to 8 hearts, and lo and behold, the picnic scene and Vincent's line happened. So I do think people are reading far too much into this situation, just from a few screenshots. I mean, it'd be nice if there was an extra flag to change Vincent's dialogue, but CA can't be responsible for people reading too much into it.

(That being said, I feel awful for breaking up established couples... it'd be nice to matchmake them later on, if that option becomes available!)

 

They do? When does this happen? I've never seen the scene where this happens. If it does occur, it must be something new, because I'm married to Haley on another character (my first run through, heh) and my character never saw that...

I'm going to do it, so I do not have to worry if Penny cheated\cheating on me or not =).

 

It's not a scene - it's one of the dialogues that you get when you talk to them as you raise their heart level. At some point, Haley and Alex both tell you to tell the other person they can't make it because they're busy. Alex has the added bonus of blushing while he does it. Granted, I got it only after the 1.05 update, so I don't know if it'll have any impact.

 

I remember doing that in FoMT because after all you could actually marry a goddess, and most of the guys were cool (Except maybe rick, but after his sister left him to marry Kai, i started feeling sorry for him so i decided to let him have Karen).

Still i don't see myself doing this in SDV since i dislike every single one of the bachelors, moreover, my choices in this game are either marring one of the girls or spend the rest of my life with my kegs and two cows. That being said, it might not be that bad, i mean, at least they are not gonna cuck me with mullet boy, all i need now is that sweet monstergirl mod.

 

Thats the other reason I marry Elli every time i play... Because the Doctor looks more normal single ;p

 

Elli romance has the charm that you are actually competing with an effing doctor instead of another hick like you, so when you win you really know that she really loves you and it's not just "You were there and i was single".
