My friend put a server and no matter what planet I go to I can't leave the ship... I use the teleport pad and it just teleports me right back to the ship... I never leave it...

I can't tell if its a bug or a config error... can anyone else with this?

I've been having this problem recently too. And on single-player no less. Given I can sometimes get down if I keep trying, but typically it teleports me right back to the ship the first few tries.

The planet is still being loaded. Due to the hidden loading of the game, you can't really tell when a planet is done until you're allowed to port down.

Give it a bit and then try again.

Turns out the issue was that he was running it on VM... so it was only let him on the world. We made it physical and then it worked.

But I also found that if I place items in my ship it wont let me to the planet until i remove them

I'm a noob and having this same problem. I removed all items both in storage and placed. I've tried so teleport many many times. What does VM mean? How do I know if I'm running on that?

VM is a virtual machine, if you don't know what it means, don't worry you're not using it.

I can't teleport down in single player on old and new characters. This kinda sucks as it seems different for every person. Is there a cache or something I can try to wipe? I will let it sit for a bit and see if that helps

EDIT: wait a few minutes then you will be able to go down. This worked for all my characters
EDIT: I take this back, now I can't leave at all after returning a day later

I don't know what the point of your post is other than stating the obvious. All BUG posts on these forums are post not because they are bugs, but because this is a BETA and they want us to post ever single possible BUG in the game to make t as perfect as possible.

I cant either. Seems to take more attempts now to get down to the planet.

I've been having the same problem since I started playing a few days ago, and it has gotten worse as of last night's patch.
It only happens to me in single player, I've played multiplayer with a friend (who has a much better computer) for hours over two separate sessions and it never happened then, even if I was off exploring planets on my own.
It doesn't just happen on new planets. Even if I die or beam up close to spawn on my home world it takes ages to get back down.
I thought it was a loading problem, but even if I chill on my ship for a while I still have to spam teleport until it finally goes through. It seems to be a total crapshoot. Rarely it works on the first try. Sometimes I have to try 15+ times for it to work. The only solution I have found is to keep activating the teleport and it will eventually beam me down to the planet instead of back to my ship.

It should be noted that my computer is quite old. I am running Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit, I have 2GB of DDR2 Ram (At the time it seemed like a lot) and my processor is an AMD Athlon X2 dual core 6000+ (3.1 GHz per core. When I built it all those years ago I wanted a good clock speed for Dwarf Fortress, which is very CPU heavy but only can run on one core).

The game is currently updating again for me. I hope this will help.

Still an issue as of the current patch. Everyone, be sure to sent an error report on the launcher so that the devs get a chance to know it's still an issue.

How do we do this? Aside from clicking in the loading screen and being taken to the forum...

    @Kaysif
i mean to say that i would not have thought that a bug such as the teleporter malfunctioning would have survived to open beta
