It's not only possible, but easy. Well, effort-intensive, but not really difficult. Using any old inventory editor, you can add and position any number of images from the game files into an area on the weapon sprite. I've done it (though appropriate images and only with two sprites at a time, as that's all the painstaking work I could put up with). I'm pretty sure you can even recolor each image. This means that, by recoloring and positioning a bunch of... bullet images, for example, you can draw anything with it.

The quickest way I can think to fix this exploit is to implement a limit to the number of individual sprites a single weapon can have or to make it only capable of having certain images.

EDIT: Also, probably a good idea to only give each usable sprite a few areas that can be recolored and use a grayscale sprite to adjust the given colors slightly, rather than allow one to specifically designate a color to show for each color on the sprite.

 

Incidentally I saw someone wielding Chucklefish logo, it's looks like he was carrying it like a sword, so it maybe the sprite of the weapons that get altered.

Tiy, its possible to get around it, although it takes time, all you have to do is change the drawables of your weapon to be "image": "/particles/ash/3.png?setcolor=0099CC". So you basically have an ash particle for a weapon. All you have to do is arrange 1000 ash particles all next to each other, and then color each pixel to create a pornographic image. This is how people get custom weapons in the game such as a Pokemon Suicune head, or a Minecraft Diamond sword, or a Kill La Kill scissor blade.
