Most Planets seem to be very under-populated to me.
Since the races are all pretty "advanced" in technology it seems wierd that everything they have are small Villages.

    My Idea here is:
Planets completely (or mostly) covered by Buildings or Space Stations.
(best example for a station would be the Citadel from Mass effect)

-New Planet Info: [Populated by .-------.] or [Destroyed]
-New Planet Design where the Continents are covered in Buildings
-A lot of space for Quests and Events (ex. Apex rebellion in a Miniknog town or Invasion by other races)
-Early access to blueprints and weaponry
    -......
    -PROFIT

It *would* be neat to run into more populated or more technologically advanced planets. Or even just other spaceships/stations to trade with/explore.

I completely agree that this needs to happen, it's strange that I haven't seen any spaceships from other races at their villages, I mean, how did they get there?

ALSO I would like to see the opposite of this, being empty planets without life but landable. It doesn't make sense that every planet is inhabited or has native life.

While I'm at it I think the Sewer dungeon is incredibly out of place in this game and removes me from the experience entirely... seriously poop monsters?

I think for the more advanced settlements or installations looking to trade should make themselves a bit more noticeable to starship within a certain distance via a message or ad or something. Maybe even probes or satellites with directions.

I think the sparse population might be justified by the idea that space is really really big, and even highly advanced spacefaring races couldn't possibly have filled the whole thing. I kind of like the idea of colonists and hermits building little homesteads, all alone on an otherwise empty planet. But of course, the densely populated cities must exist somewhere. If they're implemented, I think they should be quite rare.

I also really like the idea of in game advertising/directions to find the big cities, as Swadius has posted. That would make it seem really alive.
