Poptop oh have i been looking for thee

Just wondering if anyone has found our little plant friends yet? So far i havent had any luck on my quest to find the little buggers

 

Nope, and I have been playing since the day starbound came out. Not a single poptop spotting.

 

I don't think they've been implemented yet.

I'm willing to bet that they'll show up in a mission somewhere. Presumably one that is yet to be implemented.

 

Why would it be completely stupid to think that they're working on the more important parts of the game before things like poptops?

 

Well i saw them in the changelog at Starbounder

 

The changelog probably means that they have added Poptops into the games assets, but that does not mean that they spawn anywhere. They are in the assets, at the least.

 

It's possible to spawn them with /admin now, they aren't really that interesting, they just seem to walk around and behave like normal monsters except their lunge/bodyslam attack is much faster and at a lower arc, from what I remember.

 

Lol. I don't even know why people respond with comments like these. It's like you want to start an argument. If you've ever worked with the game files at all, then you'd realize how easy it is to make things. I am sure the devs could make it in less than 20 minutes, saying they are highly experienced with the code.

And as @409 said their code is in the game, it's a matter of adding spawns for them.

There are some similarities, but the Poptop has a mouth right above its "face" while Mawile has gaping jaws hidden in its "hair".

Also, I uploaded the sprites for people interested.

 

Are there only gonna be one type colored poptop(the black and white) or are The (the dark green and mint green) coming later (I hope the ohter one is coming too)

There's one big problem with Poptops in the game files right now. A problem that needs IMMEDIATE fixing.

They're unable to be captured without mods.

 

Did you not read the warning poster?
Poptops are among the most dangerous creatures to keep as pets.
Do not try petting one!

 

All the more reason to want one!

 

There are people in real life who own dangerous animals as pets, including crocodiles and alligators, bearded vultures, lions, tigers, bears, and various arachnids. A poptop isn't anywhere near as dangerous as these, so it'd be fine to have one as a pet.
