I tried to get this done last night but my computer decided to lock up, two hours into working on it and I did not save..like a moron. So after restarting it, its finally finished! Now to go give my hand a break.
whoa your coloring is constantly improving! O_O I REALLY love how Abby turned out in this, especially the hair
Thank you!! I'm trying out a different art program, and it seems to be working out in my favor! I'm using that freebie FireAlpaca, a friend of mine swears by it. I still went ahead and did some final touches in Photoshop though.
@EvilPoptart81 Your coloring IS improving! Noticeable too! I don't just say things like that either, I really mean it. Each picture has a liiiiiiiiiiittle bit better sections in them. Keep it up and you'll get extremely good over time Hair looks better than usual, the highlights and shadows really add some nice depth. Body is very nicely tapered as well. Love the color bones and cleavage, but her breasts seem a little off. Like the cleavage and her left boob (our right) looks very full. Her right (our left) one looks rather flat by comparison. I think it might be the middle part. It has the classic stretch marks but it comes off as a little flat so it looks baggy more than stretchy... make sense? Belt is nice, really goes along her hips and makes her look more 3D. The eastern eyes and western lips still throw me off, but that's personal preference don't change your style! I give her a solid 7/10, would date!
@Satashi26 *More hugs* Keep it coming!! I need the helpful critiques! I really can't thank you enough for the help though. I can see it too, how one side of her chest does seem a little flat and the strange thing she's got going on with her shirt being baggy in spots and stretchy in others ^_^ But yeah after last night's fiasco and almost in the point of tears when I lost what progress I had, (Still blame it on Abby giving my computer a jinx) I tried to re-create what I had last night and just couldn't get the mojo back. I know what I need to work on for starters. Coloring is not my best yet, but damn it, it will be!! I'd have to agree on the 7/10 as well, It's still good, showing signs of improvement and it can get better!! ^_^ Well now I'm starting to sound like Leah I had made up something quick after I finished Abby..still debating on if I should post it here or not.
@EvilPoptart81 post it! And I'm glad you like the critiques, I love hearing stuff on mine too we always improve by learning But even if I do point some things out, just know I DO like them and I save them too Your Kim picture was my offscreen wallpaper for a while!
@Satashi26 I've never had helpful critiques before, it really does help me! Heck I've drawn more the last few weeks than I have in the past year! As for the Kim pic, I'm really glad you liked it that much to give it wallpaper status! Well on the subject of wallpapers..
I wanted to try and draw Haley this time around, the little bratty blonde has grown on me. After four or so attempts to get her to look right, and crumpling up a few sheets of drawing paper, this is what I have so far, it's still a super rough sketch, she might be finished sometime this week, may have other sketches to upload as well.
so i'm not the only one who has trouble drawing haley?! like i DON'T KNOW what it is about her, it's SO hard for me to get her face right afhakfhjslv but you drew her beautifully great job
@MagicallyClueless I tried for a few days to get her to look somewhat like herself LOL It's mostly whatever the heck sort of skirt she has and that top. I winged it and went with what I think she's wearing That and I could never quite get her hair and face either.
She's wearing a spaghetti strap summer top and a mini, I think. The top needs to be light and airy and the mini skirt needs to frill out (you got that right in your picture) remember that the idea of her outfit is to be cool temperature wise, but still very fashionable. On your drawing it looks like she might be wearing a strapless top with her bra straps showing (judging by the little squares on the straps?) If so, I don't think that's what she has on. The straps should be non-adjustable, light, and sewn into the top. I think she will either go bra-less (depending on her bust size, AA or A) or a strapless bra for the support but not interfering with the fashion( B and up ). I don't think she'd tuck her shirt into her skirt like that, so maybe show a tiny line of skin between top and bottom? Or have it hang over. Haley does seem to be the kind to show off her body with designer clothing, so I think it'd be in character. BTW, I think she's really well drawn
@Satashi26 You should have seen the first version of her I worked on around Thursday night, omg she was a wreck! I felt terrible that she looked as if she were caught in a thunderstorm. ; ^ ; It does seem like she has a thin strapped top on, even with staring at her itty bitty sprite and portrait pics for references, that's what I gathered that she wore. I sort of figured maybe those straps are adjustable? lol I don't know what I was thinking there, unless her top has some sort of magic to keep her goodies in place, I see where you're coming from that those strap might not be her bra. Dang it, I always seem to like the characters that are difficult to draw LOL I also have no clue what size her chest is, I don't see her being overly busty either, but she's got enough that she can get away with wearing a top like that and still look damn good! For the hem part of her top, I agree with you that maybe she should be showing a little skin. ^_~ Thanks again for the helpful tips! Haley's far from complete, but with a little more work, she'll be the little sassy fashionista that we all know and tolerate (love)
It's the first time I checked out your thread, so I got to see every drawing in the span of like 3 minutes, and the first thing I noticed was how quickly you are improving. It's awesome to see growth! Keep it up! May I ask how you go about doing the digital part of your drawings?
Thank you very much! I mostly use FireAlpaca for the line art and most of the coloring, then minor touch ups, re sizings and other edits in Photoshop. I do what I can with the skills I have ^^;
Do you do it all with the mouse? I think one reason your pencil sketches have that special something to them is because a pencil is much more flexible than a mouse, which makes all your digital lines the same size from start to end and things like that.
I do have a pen tablet, part of my issue is, I hold the pen down harder than I probably should, and that's only to keep my lines stable. ^^; The lines won't vary as much in thickness/thinness. I don't know why that is, I've always had difficulty with varying lines, oh well more to improve on right?
