That stinks. I had the same issue but the first hotfix immediately fixed it for me so I was happy.

I have no clue what kind of computer you have but if you are running above my specs, that i posted earlier in this tread you should try updating drivers, not just graphics driver but motherboard, sound card, anything so it is up to date. That way you can eliminate the problem easier. If you however have done this, then you might not have the specs for the game. I noticed the mobs has sharper AI, and that alone requires more CPU plus all the meteor effects and such.

as said before, it makes no sense to me at all when i can play some of the latest games without any problems but starbound lags xD
and no, my specs are not inferior to yours.
im currently working with windows 7 extreme 64 bit, 8gig ram, AMD FX 6-Core ~3,3 Ghz and a 4 gig AMD Radeon HD 6670.
i also have use a partitioned harddrive section for games only.

and i don't believe that updating drivers will help me here, allthough i might consider looking into that, given that i don't really can't do anything else except waiting for new patches or fixes that might never happen.

Should not be lack of hardware spec but just curious, what kind of soundcard you use? It can be related tot sound, as you may have noticed, the music change when you go into combat. After many years of assembling computers, soundcard is probably the most underrated hardware that i know. People gladly update they're graphics driver but never care to even think the computer have a driver for the soundcard as well. Many computers that i have fixed have had some problem caused by a soundcard or its driver. Also run Starbound diagnostics and see if any drivers there is reported to be a problem. I know some Asus soundcards does cause some troubles

If this issue is unrelated to the stuttering issues caused by the patch that were hotfixed, driver problems would be the next logical thing to check. Driver issues can and do arise that cause these kinds of problems.

    LAG! T___T

Same here... laggs like hell when gravel is falling down (for example).

    Specs:
    AMD Phenom II X6 1045T
    AMD HD6870
    8GB Corsair Hyper X Beast
128GB Samsung SSD (an older model)

SO im not an ~expert~ but i dont think its a hardware related issue... :p

thats like one of the last things i'd have thought about as a source of the lag, seems more illogical then the spec related lag lol xD
music just seems like the least reasonable cause of my lag issues...
Allthough i have to admit it still could be possible since i had issues related to sound before, e.g crashes in oblivion whenever combat started or ended lol (allthough that happened on another machine)
guess it can't hurt to look into that, but then i'd need a little help figuring out where to find the exact location of the soundcard name, or whatever info you'd need to know more about it.
i executed dxdiag but i can't seem to figure out which the actual name of the soundcard is, also have 2 sections for sound (sound 1 and sound 2).
This is where my average computer knowledge stops xD
Is there any other place where i can see the actual information for the built in sound card?

Check Device Manager. If you're running Windows Vista, 7 or 8 just hit the Windows key and start typing device manager.

    straight forward lol..
just that its 'Geräte-Manager' for me xD
Maybe i should change the system language to english oO

Listed under Audio,Video- and Gamecontroller are:
    -AMD High Definition Audio Device
    -Realtek High Definition Audio

now, is one of those the soundcard name? :wtf:

One of them is likely your sound device, but I couldn't tell you which one specifically. Try using the AMD driver detect software: http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/auto-detect-tool
Either that, or right click on them and select Update driver software.. The problem with doing it that way is you do not always get the very latest driver updates.

I take that back with better ingame performance. After playing for a while, I noticed that all npcs, monsters etc. are often lagging/stuttering when jumping. It seems there is a lot that reloads in the background. Any solution for this? I know I fixed it the last patch with the Windows XP compatibility .dll, but I'm not sure if I should apply it again. My PC is very low-end, but it worked fine before Furious Koala.

If you're running WinXP, try installing the "Dual Core Optimizer" from the AMD website.

And what do you mean by "Windows XP compatibility DLL"?

Thanks. I run it with an Intel Core 2 Duo though. I'll try to find something similar.
The DLL (I think it was the SDL.dll) fixed startup crashes and other hickups in previous versions. At least for me. For many players it was the go-to solution. There are several versions floating around the web, but obviously they should be obsolete by now, since Chucklefish fixed the XP compatibility issues already with Angry Koala. At least that is what I read in the patch notes. That is why I wonder why I have some of the same performance related issues from the early beta again.

The problem with using a version of SDL not shipped with the game is that I highly doubt they've done any testing with it. Keep the old SDL DLL around just in case, if you do decide to use a different one.

The "Dual Core Optimizer" just sets a boot flag, it doesn't matter what multicore CPU you have. It doesn't do much of anything, and doesn't usually have any effect on non-AMD-CPUs, but it won't hurt anything to try it.

I had to wait for a new patch once. Luckily the game ran smooth again and when I finally got to play Starbound again it felt more awesome than ever!!! I feel with you bro. Keep your head up and play Terraria or something in the meanwhile for comfort :)

The game ran much better when the patch came out, and now it seems to run worse with the hotfix.

    Run the Diagnostics.

Look through or attach a starbound.log , make sure there aren't any issues.
