    Is anyone else experiencing this?

    My specs are:

    Win 7 Pro 64bit
    Intel(R) core(TM)2 duo CPU 2.40Ghz
    8.00GB RAM
    Nvidia GT 610

Angry Koala was lagging when in dungeons, but was still playable, but Furious Koala lags all the time for me.

Changelog, people. "Also hot-fixing an issue that causes stutter for people on lower-end computers and making the unpacker safer to use. Patch really soon (like today, not a month from now)." - Mollygos

Who knows? He probably just used that phrase as a blanket term. But it's not a huge jump to think that lag that popped up at the same time as everyone else is due to the same issue.

I got horrible lag too. It's unplayable. Hopefully hot fix helps. I can move etc, but interface and button presses lag a lot.

Same here...hopefully this patch is actually released today or at least tomorrow. Been patiently waiting Ever since I got the game about 2 weeks ago but now Starbound is just teasing me. @_@

"You want some?" *Starbound asks, revealing it's glorious patch*
"Oh yes I do!" *Myself as I reach for my keyboard to play it*
    "Uh-uh! No touching!"
    "But...but..?!"

I've got the lag issues as well, and have a lower end computer (these days anyway) but Angry was fine :)

Just the way it goes I think :D

Same problem here. Sometimes the Game stops while jumping or fighting. It's unplayalbe.

Your specs are low end, my computer is 6 years old and has higher specs than your computer, only one exception is Win 7, i prefer win Vista. I consider my computer very low end compared to todays standards.
Current specs for my 6 years old computer:

    Windows Vista 64 bit.
    Core 2 Duo, 2,80GHz at 3,06GHz
    8 GB Ram
    Geforce 260 GTX 1GB.

Just to clearify what makes my computer a little better even thought the series i have is much older.

    Benchmark score:

    GeForce 610GT = 347
    Geforce 260GTX = 1,119

Even on higher end spec comps the patch has caused some serious stuttering.
On my laptop it is beyond unplayable now... last night, I played 9 hours straight on it with no lag or stuttering or anything, not even in the dungeons, now just walking on planet surfaces it's stuttering majorly to point where it isn't registering key presses and even the music is awful to listen to. Like mixed dubstep by a 6 year old on LSD with no idea what a computer is... or just dubstep in general but still.

Yes, indeed. I had no stuttering erlier today before the patch but now it is Bandage Bonanza for even simple mobs.

I thought my computer just didn't have enough power at first, but now i need to revoke my advert for that antique computer from ebay...

An update, game playable from start with no stuttering issues after patch update released a few minutes ago (I can't vouch for 9 hour games however like Solosmoke has in progress)

Hello. I have the same issue on a lower-end computer. My old gaming rig, which was pretty descent 3-4 years ago. dont remember the specs but I run Diablo 3 at highest graphics settings on 1280x720 with 50-60 fps constantly so Starbound shouldn't be a problem imo.

Up until the patch the performance was awesome. GREAT gaming experience. Totally lag free. Now its unplayable at best, with 3-4 FPS. So its a major change without any noticable change or improvement in the graphics.

I'm not complaining. This is beta afterall :) Just giving constructive feedback.

Edit: There is a new hotfix today? I will check it out tonight after work. Thnx

Lag and stuttering is gone for me as well with the new hotfix. The game itself runs a lot smoother now, though in contrast to Angry Koala, the loading at startup takes up 5+ minutes for me.

im playing again since maybe 2 hours or so (means any additional patches should be there), and still have that lag issue. its not persistent, but when it happens, its getting super annoying. monsters sometimes 'lag' into me, or get slowed down extremely just to speed up like hell again the next second...
    about the 'lower spec' thing.
i don't see the point when i can play skyrim with full settings, but starbound (2D) has terrible lag spikes, no matter how low spec my comp is supposed to be oO
its still playable, but the lag gets REALLY annoying, worst when i knock down some gravel or fine sand.
now, i know the game is still in Beta, and im aware that it might be a temporary issue, so i'll try to deal with it for now and keeping my hopes up that the engine improves till the game hits 1.0

You probably haven't gotten the patch. Try restarting Steam.
