Feedback Poll: What's your favorite armor set stat-wise?

Discussion in 'Starbound Discussion' started by Shadow Wolf TJC, May 13, 2016.

What kind of armor do you prefer the most?

  1. Rubium/Cerulium (I'd much rather prefer offense over defense!)

    24.2%
  2. Violium/Impervium (Who needs firepower when you're a nigh-unstoppable juggernaut?)

    15.2%
  3. Aegisalt/Ferozium (I prefer a more well-rounded balance between offense and defense.))

    48.5%
  4. None of the above/no preference/something else...

    12.1%

Personally, when dealing with enemies, I'd much rather want them out of my hair as soon as possible. Because of this, I'd willingly sacrifice some protection for enough firepower to be able to take out my enemies in the most brutally-efficient manner possible, so of course, I personally prefer wearing Cerulium armor over Impervium or Ferozium armor. If this ends up making my hard-hitting sniper rifle or rocket launcher so overpowered that it deals more damage to enemies than 1.5x their max HP, then I could just switch to something less hard-hitting, but with a higher rate-of-fire, such as an assault rifle or sniper rifle with a higher rate-of-fire.

Besides, it's not like I need the extra protection when I can easily kill my enemies in a single blow before they can even have the opportunity to fight back, or if I can easily find ways to avoid their attacks (as if I was playing Dark Souls). :p

I'm the other way around. I get the extra defense because:

For anyone who don't feel like reading the bold areas in the quote, the TL;DR is that exploring kill me more than combat. That and I felt I never need stronger weapons and often just use what I naturally find.

I most often wear the best looking of the three (or six if the downgrades look extremely nice) as my social slot though.

I'm always making Impervium end-game armor, because I'm noob and I can die even when I fall from 1 block :D

Most of the time I use Ferozium armor, but sometimes I use a Impervium chest just for a little more defense.

I say Impervium, since I love the idea of being tough to take down, and good armor in general. Besides, my weapons do enough damage already either way. I also have to say that Zerukoba's text makes a good point too.

I am currently considering how it would be like to really die from falling from every 1-block tall drop.

I used to use Impervium all the time. Well, that was back when it was literally the best. When the multiple sets got split, I kept using it for a time, but the lack of energy got to me.
So I swapped completely to Cerulium. The defence is (or at least was) slightly worse than Durasteel, so I got hurt very easily, but that damage is amazing. It was over 200% damage boost on some pieces for a while, wasn't it? Since set bonuses aren't a thing sometimes I'll mix and match. Since Cerulium and Ferozium have the same Energy now and the other bonuses have been toned down somewhat, I tend to use Ferozium now for its nice balance.

I always just go for whatever provides me the most energy for my abilities. Priorities are mobility > defense > offense.. So I guess Ferozium would be my pick.

War Angel armor from FU... I want truly epic armor that comes from hours of hard work and crafting. The vanilla armors are lackluster at best.

I took a look at the armor's stats, and I believe that it's game-breaking, even within Frackin Universe, and even if it didn't grant immunities to all biome hazards within the mod. Currently, in vanilla Starbound, your armor reflects a percentage-based damage reduction, so for example, an armor class of 50 means 50% damage reduction, while an armor class of 100 or more means 100% damage reduction. Since the combined armor class of the War Angel set is 106, and since Frackin Universe does not yet modify how armor reduces damage, I believe that, by wearing this set, you're practically immune to ANY kind of damage, with the exception of damage that ignores defense (like status ailments, traps, and fall damage, though perhaps some attacks will also do this).

It also increases your energy reserves to 344% normal, which is far more than the 160% that any of vanilla Starbound's tier 6 armors can manage, and it also increases your damage bonus to %425, which is only slightly better than Aegisalt armor's %400 damage bonus, and doesn't hold a candle to Ferozium armor's %450 damage bonus.

I am one to mix n match the armor pieces. I usually have the high defense one as the chest piece, high energy as helm, and something average as the legs/feet. At least when giraffe first came out.

Now it is a mix to damage & energy that I aim for. maybe even another mix. I don't remember offhand which pieces are which; just glad there are vanity slots.

that is going by stats for the current armors. I rarely ever use a full set of 1 type, at least when you have to choose of the 3.

I go for the Accelerator (Aegisalt/Ferozium) armor sets since I like being able to switch between melee and ranged as needed, I carry a powerful sword in hot-bar slot 1 and a powerful gun in slot 2, I use which ever one is needed based on the situation.

It used to be that Cerulium had more energy reserves than Ferozium, which had more energy reserves than Impervium, but when Glad Giraffe came, all of the Tier 6 armor sets suddenly found themselves having the same energy reserves. Nowadays, Cerulium is best known for its all-around damage bonuses over Ferozium (which apply to both melee and ranged combat), which has higher damage bonuses compared to Impervium.

Personally, I dont care about offense or defense, the most important stat is the energy! I gotta be able to zoom around using the particle thrust as much as possible.

I prioritize mobility > attack > defense, and my preferred fighting style is guns, so I usually try to get as much energy as I possibly can. If I feel confident that I don't need the energy, then I'll get a little more attack instead.

My preferred combat method is guns. I'm not great a dodging, however, so normal I use Aegisalt/Ferozi. I might go for Rubium/Ceruliu just to try it.

I used claw gloves and cerulium and it was epic. I killed 6 glitch with a royal (who I'm not too sure is beefier or not since he was in the stack) with just claw glove light attacks and only had to boost jump some to keep hitting them in the air while they were stunned and popped up. A lil cheesy but it was so hype! Lol claw gloves may be a lil too OP with cerulium.

I have since switched to ferozium and my combat style a bit, it works and makes it a bit more interesting.

I might try multi molten boomerangs with cerulium if I can get the scorched cores for a second one, that or dual neo chakram.

Too bad rocket boots is out for 1.0 but I can still see wall jump double dash and sticky ball being a pretty cool tactical set for a dual claw glove energy build, or the dual rangs. Its gonna be a bit different with more mobs than glad giraffe.
