[Poll] What is your LEAST favorite race?

I'm not really feeling the Apex. I have never been one to like Planet of the Apes, I commend their creation and inspiration but just not something I enjoy personally. Will still create one though.

Personally, I chose the Apex as my least favorite because I never really cared for the "Planet of the Apes" movies. Just couldn't get into them... maybe it was the rubber monkey mouths?

Probably Apex, I never really found it appealing to play as an futuristic ape.

At least the Apex are Orwellian. That counts for something.

 

Regarding the un-scienceyness of Apex, it's not the first time scifi has decided to go with Hollywood Evolution. I'd put the scientific accuracy of Starbound somewhere near the ballparks of Star Trek and Mass Effect - design first, realism later. As such, it doesn't make much sense to criticize apex unless you are willing to criticize all of the other races for having a humanoid bodyplan. After all, how unlikely is it that six races (glitch are constructs so they don't count) all converged on a bipedal bodyplan like ours. With octopi, other apes, parrots, corvids and dolphins demonstrating a really high level of intelligence, I'd say civilization and culture are not exclusive to being humanshape.

I don't really like the un-scientificness of a de-evolving machine either, but apex could easily have a higher quality brain than humans. Birds have smaller brains yet their wiring is superior to ours -> they get more bang for their buck. Apex might well have a similar situation. This would be me trying to find a better explanation for why apex could be super-intelligent.

 

I don't criticise the Apex for their scientific inaccuracy as much as I criticise the fact that they got feet what look like hands.

My least favorite?

Gonna have to be human's although I do not HATE any race,
I am certainly uninterested in them.

If you eat/play/make/anything something too much you will end up getting bored of it eventually,
but that does not mean I am going to scoff at those who play them or anything like that or have an
irrational knee jerk reaction to them.

That's my two cents anyway.

 

I'm rather disappointed to see that Apex is somehow one of the "least favorite" races. It's a race of monkey people, folks. But a ridiculous-looking and hideous fish race? And humans. Boring old humans. Gotta have 'em in most every game though.

 

Apex is at the top of my least favorite list. Not at all fond of monkey-men and never have been a fan of the heroes/villains from comics/etc. that were. Very few exceptions come to mind, with things like the Monkey King from Chinese Mythology being on that exclusion list.

I like most of the other races on the list... don't yet know enough about the Hylotl to comment one way or another.
