[POLL] If angry koala was the final version, would you be satisfied?

This is not a cake though, feeding someone some eggs and milk would not get you proper feedback as to whether you are on track to make a good cake or not or how much work you have left until you do.

The fact that they opened this beta up to the public means that there is something here to "taste" how far it is from the final product.... only the devs know that.

 

Feeding someone eggs and milk would most definitely be a way to tell if the cake is good or not. Give someone week-old eggs and warm milk as a taste test for ingredients, they'll say the cake will be bad. Give them fresh ingredients, they'll say it could be okay, but they don't have any way of really knowing how the cake will taste. That's my point - we're not really experiencing the game right now, we're only being given tastes of the ingredients.

 

I'm in agreement with others who are saying you asked the wrong question here. Of course we are not going to be satisfied if Angry Koala was the Last officially released version of the game. At the moment If I was playing Starbound and Terraria for the first time side by side Terraria would be the much better game, Terraria right now is a better game than Starbound, but theres so much more coming for Starbound that it won't take long for Starbound to be the better game.

Big things to improve:

Give us more decorative items we can craft from the start.
Better Guns earlier in the game.
NPCs who carry guns should drop them on death. I'd go a step further and say that they should drop the exact weapon that they spawned with.

 

i think some people are in denial about how far along this game is. Yes, it is beta, but there wont be some drastic overhaul to turn this into something completely new and fresh. What you have now is pretty much what the game will feel like when its finished.

That being said- yes its still a good/great game, but its not THE awesome mining game i was expecting. I know there will be some improvements and i am definitely getting my moneys worth- but I doubt it will become as genre defining as Terraria or Minecraft.

OP asked the question he wanted to ask, and wanted the answer to. It's a simple one- no more updates, would you be satisfied and content with the game as it is right now?
"If this was the final release would you be satisfied?"

If you are looking for a different question/answer, etc, there are a good number of threads dedicated to a more in depth question (updates/beta/so on) floating around, or create your own.
If you feel the question is just plain silly or un-needed, no need to come in to criticize, just don't have to answer

 

For £12 I have got just as much time and enjoyment out of the game as some AAA games. That alone shows that it has already been worth my money.

If it were to cease being developed right now? I'd be satisfied with what is there. But I would of course be disappointed. I think anyone who claims they wouldn't at least be a little disappointed (not the same as dissatisfied) is telling porky pies. I mean, look at "The Future of Starbound" thread and tell me you would go "meh." if all of that were to be scrapped.

 

I think its a valid and telling question. Those who arent too happy with the game now , i doubt theyll be much happier when its "done". I think most people are indeed happy with this release, but feel as if saying they are happy now somehow means that the game wont get worked on any more. You dont put 50+ hrs into something you are not happy with.

but like said already this question is obsolet. is like advertising a 5 star dinner and then giving me a bloody piece of raw meat and then saying: i know the dinner isnt ready yet, but if this piece of raw meat was your 5 star dinner would you be satisfied
or asking me to look at a storyboard and asking me if i think the movie is worth my money... senseless.. i dont even know what you try to accopmlish with such a question.

You misunderstood the point of the question. It was simply based on the game as it sits now, not based on promises the devs would have broken in said situation. Maybe I could have underlined that point a bit more but most people here seemed to have gotten the jist of it.

I worded the question slightly different because I had 3 fields to fill in with one simple question. All 3 basically mean the same thing unless you really want to get super nitpicky.

 

Only if they fixed the majority of problems such as balance and bugs still plaguing the game.

 

The better question would be, how do you feel about the game knowing that it's in its infancy. The current question is actually pretty pointless.

 

That's not a bad thing at all, and they have done it a few times in starbound already (pixel compressor, skyrails).

No. Lots of reasons why, but posting them over and over again is tedious.

 

That's an opinion, it varies per person.

I for one thought the new decorations were pretty useful for the stuff I was building, and horses were nice bait to lure people with on multiplayer speedy ones were even more useful for traveling.

 

Have you ever used the Technic Launcher ? The best mod that minecraft should have is Smart Moving, why ? Because it adds more animations to your guy, he gets a swimming animation, a crawling animation, a climbing anim and a diving anim.

 

Sorry to break it to you- but this game isnt a piece of raw meat. if anything, its a fully cooked steak without the A1 and garnish. You answer the question anyway- yes, you like the game as it is now.

Its not really more complex than that.
