I honestly don't know why people like it either. I'm not a huge fan, but like I said, I've tolerance for vaguely explained nonsense.

Don't see the problem with putting unique npcs within the game which encompass a small portion of the game. If you guys want a dark and serious game play a dark and serious game. The Devs will sculpt their game how they like, whether that's a a fully dry adventure or something quirky with bits of humor.

It's just a break from the hardcore moments. Relax.

It, agian, seems, to me at least, like some people forget part of the context to these, let's say kind of monsters. They appear in a dungeon that is a sewer only. Making it accaptable to appear in such a location for it is what sewers are there for, excrements.
Sure i would think bad of it if they were the only creatures of such areas but i doubt it. also while i do understand the dislike to some degree i think many of you go way over the top. Sure it's made of crap.. or is it? Sewage water is kind full of alot of stuff. this let's say Golem seems like it's made of crap but is it really? yes? no? what does it matter. It appears in an area where it fits in.
Sure it won't fit into the general concept of the game but it fits into the concept of a sewage dungeon, which appears in the game and it appears nowhere else thus making it'S implementation somewhat legit. sure not liking sometihng is ones personal choice and i won't go up agianst you if you just dowright say "i don't like it cause it's simply not my thing." but if you come with reasons like "It isn't appropriated for this games." or sometihng simlar i will have you to answer a few questions like "why?", "in waht way would it be?" and "What makes soemthing appropriate for this kidn of game adn what not?"
Lastly if we remove the flies it's a mudman, I am sure that would make us all happy but it wouldn't explain it's appeariance ina a sewage dungeon.

Well I guess Freud was right about shit having deep unconscious effects regarding a sense of control. Throw some poo in a game and people are giddy with giggles or uptight control freaks. Question is will a lack of frustration tolerance in the community effect the artistic freedom of the game? -I no longer wonder why so much is kept back about the game... probably not so many *spoilers* as it is avoiding shit-storms.

There are a lot of things they wouldn't do that they already do if they were worried about that.

I imagine they tell themselves that... but I also think it is hard for the community to imagine the pressure a small team is under in trying to make a game (on a deadline) with so many voices wanting things their way. Case in point: Look how apologetic Molly was in today's update. Look at how much effort was made to calm the community down after the "pre-alpha" slip-up. I could list more... but the evidence is quite clear. Criticism can have a powerful effect, especially when it comes from so many voices. Team Chuck is made up of people too. They used to troll and be more lighthearted and fun on the forums. Now its all seriousness and apologies. We (the community) do have a major impact.

Some people like it so much because some people hate it so much.

I like applying more pressure to them, honestly. Pressure forces reactions, reactions provide results. Not that the results are always good, but they're results nonetheless.

They've got a lot of money now, the pressure is to be expected. They could still be fun and lighthearted on here, they just have to be a lot more careful about how and when they do it, because not everyone is going to "Hail the Chief" anymore.

Perhaps you should experience that pressure yourself, if you like it so much.

I can guarantee that they are severely stressed at the moment. I49 was just a taste of it, and while a good portion of it was due to the presentation of I49, there is still plenty of stress left. They know how much the community is looking forward to this game. They know the criticism they have been copping. They know that impatience on this forum is reaching fever pitch. The posts they've made lately are indicative that they are following everything, and are concerned about how the community reacts. It's constant pressure, and no-one can last indefinitely when put under such constant pressure.

I experience this kind of pressure on a daily basis, bud. It's a natural thing, and it's the sort of thing heroes are bred out of, as ridiculous as that sounds.

Not everyone's cut out to be a hero. It doesn't really fit on the game dev job description, either.

Not everyone's cut out to be a great game developer, either. So there's nothing wrong with the natural pressure. Especially at such levels. This is chump change compared to what large companies receive. Riot Games cracks under this pressure, and sometimes I wonder if they'll break. Blizzard sometimes cracks, too, but they rebound pretty nicely. I can list a lot of successful companies that don't do so hot under the pressure, but they still get it and it's still there for a reason.
