    Hey Support!,

I have recently observed lag while hosting a Starbound server. At first the server runs just fine with little to no issues. As time progresses though, even if it's just one or three people online, lag will slowly creep over the players that becomes worse and worse until it is unplayable.

I have ran a server three different ways and found the same issue:
    • Through CreeperHost (our VPS provider)
      • Uninstalled and re-installed the server twice and still got the same results
    • My PC
    • Friend's PC
Each play-through was ran with new characters, and in my case, I even re-installed my client each time just to be sure.

Same here, but somewhat worse: My server lags from beginning, even if no one else is there but me. Takes me like 2 minutes just to beam up to my ship. I tried it with and without mods, all new chars and universe, giving it some time to render and load. I also tried both 32x and 64x-servers as well. Nothing changes. Lags like hell, while singleplayer, even with huge mods like FrackinUniverse, works like a miracle.

I'm just hoping that they will do some more fixing about this, so I guess it's up to us to wait for those patches. If not, I'm sure to bring this topic up again (hoping that someone out there is reading this stuff).

I can confirm this issue with my server on Multiplay, which I currently have an on-going support ticket with them about.

The amount of time it takes varies based on the number of people in-game, with the shortest time between two server crashes from runaway memory usages being as little as 29 minutes.

There was some worldgen improvements in this hotfix. I'm going to do some testing tonight i ya'll don't mind doing the same to see if there is improvement.

It's a little better now. At least when I'm alone on my server... Still not as smooth as it was before this big patch, but I can see that this fix made some improvements.
I am still hoping that they find and smash those bugs so that I'll don't have to wait for doors to actually open...

Memory still leaking. Server eat 2gb RAM after 3rd world loaded. Yea, server wrote "World thread has stopped due to inactivity, removing world", but memory are full.

    Any official feedback? :<

Well, I'm running 8 GB RAM on Win 7 64x, and my system moves around 3,5 GB which should be fine. The CPU seems to handle the game pretty well also, so I doubt that there is a connection between those lags and the hardware. Despite this, the game ran fine before this huge patch...

    Ok. Some experiments here.

Testing system: VPS with 2 cores, 2 gb RAM and empty CentOS 7 (expect SteamCMD and Starbound, ofc)

Very bad. Free memory ends very fast. Each world add ~300-400 mb to RAM load and I didnt see any GC. So on out of memory server is totaly stucked in lags before reboot.

Better. Each world add ~100-150 mb to RAM. Didnt see any GC too.

Guys, do u have some recommendation? Maybe i miss something in server configuration or so?

Maybe did I miss something? As I said, I experience lags from the very beginning, so to be honest: I don't even try to move to other planets... I'll try to do this tonight and give some response.

    EDIT:

Okay, I tried to visit other planets now.
Let's just say: I killed the game after 5 minutes FTL-loop. I kept an eye on my performance, which was fine the whole time. So I still am in doubt that this is the main reason - at least in my case.
