Please, stop whining

I know the whole progression system is being changed in a couple days, but I had to say this, because I think the whining will continue after that.

People who complain about the game being too hard heard enough of it already, so I'm not addressing them. Instead, I'm talking to the people who complain about the possibilities to skip huge amount of game content and rush to the last tier in one day or two.

Let me remind you, that Starbound is not an e-sport, not a MMORPG and not even a competitive game whatsoever. It's a sandbox. Which means that you're given freedom to do whatever you want. That being said, stop complaining about the fact that a lot of the content CAN be skipped. If you don't want to, don't do it, but don't try to force other people to follow YOUR pace, because this kills the purpose of the game.

"But what about the PvP? Should I just sweat my shirt out to get endgame content and go kill others while they got all their gear in 2 days?"
...Seriously? PvP? In STARBOUND? Sorry to break the news to you, sonny, but the vast majority of the players don't play this game for PvP, so... Seriously?

"But that kills the whole purpose of progression. People must start off small and go up bit by bit to the endgame."
NO, they don't. You have A LOT of games out there with forced progression, it's nothing exciting anymore to some people (me included) and you can see that many MMORPGs evolved from a strict progression system to something else, because people were getting fed of always having to spend countless hours to build a character to then enjoy the "real" game.

Anyways, these are just my thoughts, I really hope devs keep this the way it is, for that feels like real sandbox freedom.

I agree with everything you're saying, except for PvP. I can see Starbound PvP becoming pretty popular.

  6. I'm usually against threads like this because it hurts more so than it helps, but you do bring up some good points. Also PVP rocks.

Definitely agree with you 100 % It was the same deal when minecraft came out and everyone wanted it to be way more competitive.. Ridiculous!! I think a lot of people are expecting Starbound to cater to every genre? Very strange.. All I know is that it completely Checked off everything I wanted out of it! :D

I agree with you mate. If I see one more thread about attacking through walls and how "cheesy" it is (which is the only adjective people use about it) I don't know what I'll do.
Why do you care how other people kill their enemies? This is a sandbox game.

    Yup, I agree.
The last thing I want in my sandbox games is super strict rigid progression.

I'm not saying it won't be popular and I'm DEFINITELY not saying it doesn't rock, but that's not the main reason why people play the game =)

Weird thread. People are going to voice their view on the game, even if you consider it whining.. one way or another.
Feedback is one of the whole points of beta after all. For good or for ill you can only expect people to speak up about how they feel about things. It is what the developers want.

Just because you (and I since I don't want it to be a e-sport either) disagree with some views, doesn't make it wrong or something that should be stopped.

First of all, I'm not talking about views, views are used to talk about things with no clear definition, about concepts. This concerns some kind of expression that is a misconception (in my opinion) of what a sandbox game is and even worse, an expression that endangers MY playstyle. If people STOP asking for a stricter game, they don't lose, they can still play the game the way THEY think it's right.
On the other hand, if they get what they ask for, I LOSE the ability to play the game the way I think it's right. See the difference?
