Please remove mobs from asteroids.

First of all, sorry about my english.

The idea is to make you feel like you are on the asteroid field alone doing a extremely dangerous mining (or exploring) mission... so birds, animals etc etc ruin that feeling plus is not realistic (Yes I know it's a game but still)

I propose to add radiation areas or gas eruption instead, or a mix of different elements so you have to be really carefull if you want to mine the place plus this way in my humble opinion it gives you the feeling of being alone, it's more realistic, imagine the first space miners how they would feel, mining a rock with a space suit on and with no birds fliying around you.

So I hope you get my point, I want this game to be harded, I do not want to remove mobs so I can mine better and more easy, no, in fact I want it to be harded, just adding other kind of dangers and risks.... If you really want to add mobs on asteroid fields... well, you always can invent some kind of alien life form that can live without oxigen but please I don't want to find same kind of animals there.

You also can add some kind of "dungeons" or "caverns" inside the asteroids that can have some kind of life form.

Anyways... thanks for reading it and if you like the idea please let me know what do you think about it or what kind of stuff would you add or remove.

    Greetings.

I agree. It's supposed to be a game and obviously can't be 100% realistic, but yeah, there shouldn't be life where there isn't an atmosphere. It's really silly when you are hopping around with a space helmet because you can't breath and there are mobs everywhere just chillin' in the complete lack of heat and oxygen.

    maybe they evolved there
what if they have a different physiology then oxygen breathing creatures.
maybe some planets should have hostile to us atmospheres but the creatures there breath it.
speaking scientifically what you need for life, is a source of energy, and a medium by which chemical reactions can take place(water in our case, not necccesarily in their case, as liquid methane is almost as viable). And a means to reproduce.

Everything you said is well and good, but this thread is specifically about asteroids though, which lack atmospheres, and will not have liquid matter since the temperatures would be absolute zero. It seems silly having large animals kicking around on asteroids.

It would be cool to come across planets with liquid methane oceans and unbreathable atmospheres, though.

sorry, the guy i was replying to was talking in-general.(all places without atmospheres, so i wanted to clear it up)

It is definetly strange that asteroid fields have birds/animals though.Makes no sense. So I agree.
(of course it would be hilarious to have the odd space-whale or necromorph thing)

You quoted my post, maybe you should edit the quote out of your original reply if you aren't responding to it. No worries though, cheers.

    Exactly.

Yes it's possible, maybe life doesn't need oxygen and they can breath or consume other elements, but I am just talking about the asteroids and maybe the moon kind as well, they are supposed to lack of atmosphere.

    sorry, i'll fix that.

I think they should remove the normal animals, but add rock creatures that could be made of different ores, and each one drops a little bit of it's respective material when killed.

I agree. Adding more environmental dangers makes asteroids feel special. At the moment, I don't touch them, even when I need to mine, because they're difficult to traverse and don't yield all that much ore as opposed to what you could get simply by surface mining a desert planet or something along those lines. Asteroids aren't a planet, they're hunks of rocks in space, and it feels somewhat jarring to see canaries flying about my head as I'm hopping around in space in zero gravity.

I think the jarring portion of it is that these are creature morphs we commonly see on planets with air. I'd imagine they have a plan to restrict specific creature morphs to specific biomes, so it wouldn't surprise me if they plan to have creatures in asteroid fields. Hell, Star Wars had Mynocks. It's hardly far fetched to think that Starbound could pull off something similar.

Yeah I guess if the creatures looked NOTHING like anything we see on planets it could be cool. Like some kind of silicoid or crystalline life form. Or some kind of sentient energy beings like that thing from star trek: TNG (sorry, can't remember the episode).

I support the removal of creatures from Asteroids and Asteroid belts, so long as more troubling situations are introduced. Perhaps enemy turrets, left to support a planet? Or pre-built one-room outposts, used to send out drones?

There's an idea! Drones that show up on rare occasion, spawning from a pre-set item until it is successfully destroyed ala capsules, with the E button. Rewards a fair bit of pixels.

Well, when I saw the birds flying around the asteroids I didn't know if I should Laugh or cry. This definitely needs to be fixed asap.

I like the idea. Probably they didnt remove life from the asteroids cuz if they did so nobody would ever go there. Adding some new kinds of monsters and spawning them only on asteroids and moons would be a nice thing =)

    +1 to the OP

remove flesh and blood creatures, add things like rogue mining drones, or odd crystalline creatures, perhaps something that evolved to absorb solar energy. There are many possibilities, but creatures constructed of flesh and blood are considerably weird on the moon/roids.

    Robo enemies yas.

Would be much preferred on an asteroid. Wild life is a little silly on asteroids unless they are cosmic based or robotic creatures.

You know what wild life would say if you introduced them to the void of space?
This: HEY! hey! Hey! hey! hey! GUY! hey! heeeyyy! *POP*

    TheLostSentinel Big Damn Hero

Half true, but like, you would not even hear them, since there is no sound in the void of space, and they would just sorta.... pop in a bloody gory mess. :l Lol

I mean if you were close enough to hear the air hit your space suit, you might hear *something*. I'm amazed the 'roids are completely crammed full of birds.. since you know.. the higher you go.
