Agreed, have we really degenerated into arguing that subjective feelings are as concrete as numbers?

    7+3 = Excited!

  2. I question that logic when it comes to CF's schema. "Angry" does not seem to fit when the next step in progression was "Frustrated". That would indicate a downward movement in emotional stress. Groovy also has a connotation of being "cool", "excellent", "fashionable", or "amazing" (as per Wikipedia), all of which can be done while craving the visceral satisfaction of taking a life (as they are not mutually exclusive). The only answer is to make it a single update called Groovy Homicidal Platypus.

Well in a way it is really all subjective... To me angry is like having a chip on the shoulder, while frustration is something constantly eating at you. So in that sense it is more. the way I see things.

  4. I see "Angry" as more of an active aggression where "Frustrated" is more of a passive gnawing feeling. That's how I see it.

ah. that explains the reasoning in the post then. :)

    Thanks.

Well each to their own perspective right? :)
or is that with our own perspective...

EDIT: active agression I kind of thought of as the next in line, Furious. Which is more constant.

As one can anger someone, but that can subside pretty easily; however the furious tend to need more time.

Oh well is what I perceived. (*how I see it.)

Arguing about subjective and successive degrees of description? Pointless.

    Wait a minute . . .

The beleaguered forum could have a CF sponsored contest to pick the species of animal to designate the next build.

Maybe even have another to decide the adjectives to describe that build.

That kind of stuff could really help build up flagging morale.

And put my chimp ass on the Galactic Throne. What? Goofs have ambitions too.

Do the Ubuntu compromise. Version numbers (in Ubuntu's care year.month) and then some cute name everyone can remember (Dilapidated Duck).

Version number are really only useful for coders to know which build of the game issues appear in.

0.1.2 just means no major change, 1st minor change, 2nd patch change.

Beta v 0.9.8 and Beta v Enraged Koala update 8 both mean the same thing.

Without something to compare it to i would imagine the name structure they use is thus:
The mood descriptor is minor version
    The animal is major vesion
The update # is the patch
and protocol is a server thing meaning it is like the 84 time they rework the protocol for server play

In the end I think they should strike a happy medium if enough people have an issue, it is a tiny thing and really means nothing, the only problem it will cause is some people saying there is a bug in 0.10.3 and some saying there is a bug in Rampaging Koala update 3.

Then made a <3ROADMAP<3, i write it with CAPS because no one take notice on my words. If numbers not very useful for most part of the gamers, then made Roadmap, just as at pre-Beta stage. Then we can see what they doing now, what they plan do at in early date, what their main goals are and so. Ok? :lickitung:ROADMAP:lickitung:. Not Koalas. Something that can show to us how work going on and what a goals and objectives developers set themselves. Or they not have long-termed plan, vision of finished game? I dont think so. I think they have. And please, Chuclefish, dont fear show your plans, your goals, your objectives to your auditory.
    PS: sorry for bad english:oops:

I read on the steam forums someone suggesting that CF just replace 'koala' with 'customers'.

That would at least be accurate.

  13. CF should replace Customers with Apes, because at least the Apes have more social intelligence

    Mon-Keigh.

You are now on my execution shortlist. Having actually played Warhammer (and on a table top, no less) I couldn't remember where that reference was from so I had to look it up.

It's always a bad idea to embarrass a potential Emperor.

And don't think the "more social intelligence" comment is going to mitigate anything. We both know that is not true.

Numbers do not show how far a game is to release any more than naming the versions after animals. decimal points and digits can be added for more changes, and things can go to 1.0 without following numerical orders or even being finished.

its more for their own archives than for your speculating on future updates.

Oh and you are not a shareholder. But they have a news forum, with daily information, might want to try that.

The thing about "normal" build numbers, is that they don't tell you anything more important than random animal names.

0.9.9 doesn't mean 1.0.0 is next, it could be 0.9.10, 0.10.0, 0.9.1337, whatever. It is literally impossible to know how many, or few, versions you'll go through before reaching "release" when it comes to a game without a deadline. Could be on 0.1.7, could be on 0.9.9, could be on 0.867.5309. The only difference it makes is "ooo, increasing numbers, such pretty."

Same as what i said, though someone on did point out the one uses they do tend to have, it is a little easier to tell a mod for 0.1 will not work in 0.3 then that a mod in Perturbed will not work in Annoyed without a cheatsheet. but other then that the numbers are still more or less the same thing as the names.

if you really think that the version number will tell you how long it will be from an update, keep dreaming. and im pretty damn sure "v0.1.8" or what ever will not tell you "hey their gonna release a new monster next update". . .

you need to come up with a logical reason on why they should change it from koalas, i for one can not think of one since it also has update and build # next to it.
