No offense, XRiZUX, but I don't think that's exactly trustworthy information. It's most likely a prediction, just like everything else. Personally, I would like to wait for an actual statement from the Developers, as said above, "They have access to the game, so they know what needs to be done, and how long it will take."

So I do hope it comes out by christmas.

It might help to explain that so people don't need to read the wikipedia article...

Basically the paradox states that if two objects are moving (development of the game and the release date), and one is catching the other, the faster object will never catch up to the slower object. So the we had the original Summer 2012 estimation, and by the time development had reached that point, the release was moved to late 2012, and by the time development caught up it was moved to early 2013, etc, etc. A very pessimistic view to be sure.

Problem with a to early release is mostly that i can make or brake a game in popularity. If i would make a game i also wouldn't take any chances or risk killing my own game when alot of money is on the line. Better they polish it in every way possible and if we have to wait longer for it then so be it.

Keeping this in mind i can wait.

I don't want it released until it's a solid finished game.

  9. I actually just wanted to use the imagery of the girl and the tortoise because I thought it was an amusing illustration.
That tortoise will be caught within a finite amount of time - just not a finite number of turns in the paradox.

In this case (as is often the case with release dates) we may need to expect a number of "turns" before actually catching up with release.

I wouldn't mind them to make this game a 2013 release, even late 2013. I just want maximum amount of content and polish out of the game when I get it. I want deep and complex and well thought out everything, and that takes time, so I would not mind developers taking their time to make the game good by taking their time with each part and making it the best they can.

The graphics is retro, its not gonna get old, the gameplay is not gonna get old, the game doesn't have to beat any releases or compete with other big games, they have no reason to hurry up, other then bunch of impatient kids wanting the game right now just because.

Looks like I'm just going to have to be "that guy" and bow out of the waiting game myself. To be frank, they shouldn't have openly speculated anything pertaining to release dates until they saw the light at the end of the tunnel. I'm patient in general but when things get said, I expect them to be at least realistically held up to.

I'm ridden with anxiety over a lot of simple things in life and games are part of what help me keep that in check. This one is only exacerbating it due to it not being completed yet and probably being one of the single most anticipated games of my life. Literally.

So for now, my patience has worn out. I'm just going to wait for the media to gush about it, then I'll know it's here. Until then, I'm going to do my best not think about it.

I admit to being impatient and wanting it NAO, but I honestly wouldn't mind a January release. Either way, the developers know their progress better than we do. When they're comfortable with it, they'll release it.

I just hope that they realize that most of us don't mind content updates, patches, etc-- hell, I don't even mind DLC for a game like this, as long as it's reasonably priced for what you get.

I think its fair to say that most people became aware of Starbound due to Terraria, Its a perfect "business" opportunity to maximise that exposure, free advertising like that is rarer than rocking horse droppings! People forget about game's they've read about, but they dont forget about games they have installed on their machines.

Personally... I forgot about Starbound, when I did remember one day about that "terraria 2" game I did some searchs... I knew it was called 'star something'.... and I found Starforge. Starforge was in Alpha, but I could download a simple demo and ive never forgotton about it since. And now Ive paid my $20 and get even more access to the 'in-development' game.

I no longer hold any emotional attachment to Starbound, I'm genuinly not botherd anymore. Thats not to say I wont buy Starbound, but I wont be in a hurry to buy it and I certainly wont be talking about it on my Facetube or Youbooks. Looking now at the sparse video's and info on Starbound, I cant even remember why I was excited about it! I guess they failed to take advantage of the early attention.

I dont agree with releaseing a game too early, but I dont agree with dragging their own community along without so much as an interactive demo or even an accurate indication when they can reasonably expect it. It doesnt make business sense, let along gaming sense.

Welcome to the Internet/Life in general. Why the hell ARE we all excited? Because if the wait was like Christmas, then Starbound would be Santa Claus.

I think it would make even less sense for them to say when it'll be released and then constantly have to go and change the date. They were originally saying a late summer release you know.

  18. Who advertised Starbound anyway? I don't remember any of the devs going 'ohai guize were making starbound tell your friendsies'

They did with the Wanderlust tie-in (it was advertised even on Steam as supporting Starbound IIRC). But that's the only thing I can think of.
