Okay, some peak at the beginning is okay I think, but still it is kind of obvious.

Not much happened since, so why wonder people wandering out? And some even blame the community. Yes sure. It is like blaming the customer in a restaurant, because he complained about a cook. Now the cook lost any wish to work as good as he did before and the customer is guilty

 

My impression is that we should stop focusing so much on what other people are doing and just play the game ourselves or, if preferred, wait for an update and come back to the game at a later time. That is, I think, the healthier course.

 

Urg...in short?Steam comunity starbound frorums are sh*t and have been spreading the bad word about Chucle and a lot of impatient people.

Dont worry,they will come when the game is finished,it has nothing to do with the comunity,its mostly by people who just cant wait and give up

Mh, some players, myself included, are playing starbound without steam.

These players wouldn't appear in the statistics.

 

Like the people who started Starbound without Steam and don't play Starbound anymore, too.

 

I think an average of almost 3000 players playing at any one time over the last 30 days is pretty good considering the current state of the game.
This will consist of people who love to test products
& People who love to build
& a small amount of other people who are playing it for the first time, or havent got a character with all the best equipment yet.

The rest of us are waiting for meaty gameplay elements. y'know, things like Quests. The improved farming, Fossils collecting and the like.

 

Well good, Starbound is in early access, which means that it's rough and being beta-tested.
It's not surprising that a lot of people bought it, played for a while, saw that it really wasn't finished yet, and decided to wait till release.
Now we've got a pretty stable 2000 or so people testing the game, which is perfect for early access.

 

Star bound is not an mmo. Hell the dev team is working on multiplayer and machinima mechanics to provide for the multiplayer experience.

If I only played games for as long as they were popular, I'd miss out on some true gems.

 

I'm not a big supporter of the idea that money motivates people, but it certainly seems to demotivate them.

Ironically they're hoping to get the starbound effect on the other crap they're making, though now no one will have the trust in development to reproduce those record breaking sales.

 

My impression is that most of those players just kinda got bored of the game (one of them being myself) and most likely won't play much until the next update.

 

Like I have said in the steam version of this kind of topic, personally I have just not felt the drive to play. The server I normally play on is down and I just have not been feeling like climbing back up the progression ladder to get back to being a tier 10. I do not hate the game or anything I have just not been in the mood to play it, Really other then the occasional derping around in Voxatron (non-steam game in alpha, it's neat) for a bit and maybe a game or two of Magicka I have not really been in a gaming mood lately. Before that wanted to try some newer games I got from sales or bundles.

 

This graph makes sense. It has a lot of players in the beginning, but once the thrill of getting wears off, only the people that really like the game continue to play. For an early access game, small numbers are expected. It'll spike whenever there's an update, and when the game goes for a full release, hopefully the numbers will permanently increase. Until then, don't worry about other people, and just continue to enjoy your game

 

Still Starbound is one of the top games in average hours played per person in all of steam.

According to the Steam website, Starbound is #27 on the top 100 most played games right now. Pretty impressive for a game in early beta

Also I wanted to note the big issue of statistics are they are we don't know exactly the reason it. Maybe they all left because of the lack of update. Maybe half left because they got a new shiny game they want to play. We can only speculate the effect various things had on the drop without any feedback from the users, But the graph is interesting none the less.
