Now, I'm not a forumn moderator...but heres some advice. To the people complaining about char wipes, sorry guys, it's part of the beta check out the faq. To the people being dismissive and rude to the people complaining about char wipes, remember alot of them genuinely DO NOT KNOW. Alot of these people bought the game off Steam, which to my knowledge says the game is in beta and obv will have problems, but doesn't mention anything about char wipes. Just remember it can be an honest mistake, so pleaase be tolerant. Thanks.

 

I made a thread touching upon this issue. Unfortunately, nothing much can be done. People are going to and will continue to be snarky assholes about thinks they don't have to be snarky assholes about.

 

Yeah, you're saying what I've been saying on various threads, basically ^-^ Kudos I suppose.

Nobody is angry at the people because they don't know.

The problem is that information is very easily found, the tools for finding it are everywhere and easy to use (here, reddit, irc, twitch, etc.), and some disclaimers are ABSOLUTELY CLEAR (like the Beta Stages explanation). Yet people are still lazy and don't search for any info before misjudging something, or pretend they're dumb by saying they "paid 15 dollars for a bad game", when the game isn't anywhere near its release state.

That's what grinds people's gears - others being lazy.

OP was just a call to patience, your allowed to be annoyed, but there is no benefit in berating a newbie that was too lazy to find out for themselves.

 

I made a thread talking about the wipes, and trying to get people to stop posting threads about them.

Like it or not, it's the truth. Deal with it.

I never said I'm angry at other people, or that it is right. I simply explained why they are. And it makes sense. Nobody likes lazy folks. Tell me how much you like that coworker that arrives every day and asks what was discussed in the last meeting because he's always late, or doesn't feel like reading the meeting report.

 

For istance, it's hard to "be nice" with a thread like this. People feeling entitled to have their characters not reset because his "card was charged for xx $". Quite frankly, I think the devs and forum mods are actually very patient. That kind of duplicate thread deserves an outright warn/ban if they were to follow the rules.

It's the same idea behind finding precious ore/gold/diamonds. If the world is 99% useless dirt and crap, it takes you much longer to find the actual gems.

Same goes for feedback. The actual good threads, with reasonable discussions and suggestions get lost in the sea of whining and ignorancy (and fall all the way to pages 4-5). It's a shame, really.

 

On the other hand, the only people you'll reach with this post are the reasonable ones - the ones that don't need this eye-opener.

You have a point...after i read that i was like smh. But anyway, I'm just suggesting that we act tolerant for the reputation of the forums and ourselves. Cause tbh, starboud has a pretty cool/nice community and I still think we should keep it up, even if some people are just downright frustrating...

 

I agree, and I try to be that zen robot that we all strive to be. Unfortunately, humans have limited patience and tolerance (hence wars, fights, anger, etc.?)

So the key word to me is cooperation. If both parties cooperate to a common goal, by putting at least "some effort" into it, neither will fuel negative feelings for the other. Now if one side is just lazy or impatient, there's not gonna be peace. This doesn't apply only to online forums, but it's a pretty good starting point.

I don't mind people saying "look, I tried solving this and looking for info, but I couldn't... can anyone help me".... but knee jerk, lazy and ignorant threads, those grind my gears.
