Did you turn off IPv6? It couldn't hurt to try it and I suspect there might be an issue with IPv6 and the server code.

    Got the same problem here.

I tried to run a dedicated server on a windows server, but it did not work.
At least it did not work when I tried to start the server by just executing the server file.

Furthermore it did not work when I manually open the launcher.exe

It just worked when I started steam then the game in steam then the server.

I also expected that this will not work anymore if I had the OP's issue before -> I needed to delete the "universe" folder. After this I was able to start the server using steam until I tried to do so without steam.

    My questions now are:

Is there a solution for dedicated windows servers?
Is there a starbound client that will work without steam? (I mean seriously, I do not want to run steam for hosting a server?!)

    I hope there is a fix :/

    Greetings
    Kaasi.

So, I reinstalled the server using the guide in my earlier post. The steamcmd-download took forever, but after running it mint (no config changes at all), it seems to work fine. Both locally and remote through internet.

Memory usage still is very high, or I'm reading these figures wrong:

total used free shared buffers cached
    Mem: 3953 3766 186 0 335 2460
    -/+ buffers/cache: 971 2982
    Swap: 238475 0 238474

Now I'll just need to find out how to transfer our current world from one server to the other, so we can start fiddling on the new server. :)

So, transferred the server world files to my linux server and everything is running smoothly. Must have been due to copying incorrect files or something before. When using steamcmd it runs superbly. Although, memory usage is still 3.5GB+, but that is a minor issue atm, at least we can play now.

I did also disable ipv6, but I don't think that affected anything, since the problems did arise after this as well.
