In starbound there is a planet I have encountered that contains mushroom people. They live in a town similar to the avian towns. I would love to be able to play as these people. Everyone wants new playable races, and this one has already been encountered. All we need now is to be able to play as them.
We'd also need lore, tech, relationships with other races... I'd say that it'd be best to make those before suggesting that they be added to the game. Grand idea though.

I disagree. I like having non-playable NPC races, since it really helps to expand the universe. I actually want to add more to the game.
