So today I got to Sector C and the 21-30 zones. I was happy, thinking that i could get some cooler armor and brave these new worlds. So I go to my Metalworking station and look for the new armors. Okay, they're made from platinum and are then upgraded with titanium, that's cool, I've gotten a few from chests so I guess they'll start to spawn regularly from now on. So i set out on a mining trip to some 21-25 planets. I find a lot of titanium, more than i would ever use, but no platinum. So i try some lvl 26 planets, then 27, 28, and then 29. Where the mobs one-hit me since i can't upgrade my armor. I still find nothing but tons of titanium so i check the forums for where i can find this platinum. And so it turns out that some people have found it on lvl 30+ planets. So I mine a lot of lvl 30 planets and find nothing but more titanium and also a good deal of death, since i have no way of defending myself against the mobs since i die instantly if they touch me. I also noticed that the platinum armor is a bit weaker than the steel armor (Platinum has 12 def, steel has 15 def). I realize this is beta so i'm not too mad about this whole thing but it really needs to be adjusted. Here's what i would do. 1 .Make titanium be the next base tier of armor, and make have it spawn as it currently does, maybe make it a bit less abundant. 2. Make platinum be the thing you use to enhance this armor. 3. Make platinum spawn from lvl 25+ worlds. 4. Make the base armor have 20 defense since it's currently weaker than the armor you will most likely have acquired on the way to Sector C. This would make it actually feasible to aquire, and you wouldn't have to corpserun planets that instakill you until you maybe find enough to get you a piece of armor. Also, moderators, if there is a more fitting place for this post, please move it there. tl;dr: There is no to almost no platinum in lvl 21-30 worlds and the armor you make from it is weaker than steel armor until you upgrade it which makes it a huge jump from steel.
I am pretty sure platinum ore is present from lvl 1 worlds, the problem is the ore you mine is platinum colored but drops silver instead, the next time you come across a supposed silver vein, mine it and then check the sprite color of it in your inventory. Platinum has very light shades of grey and white while silver is more of a solid grey. I think its simply a bug that needs fixing and it would explain why platinum is a low tier armor
