Plans for post release content

This is amazing news.

One question: if the community makes a revolutionary yet basic mod, will the dev team(s) implement it in the vanilla game (similarly to pistons in Minecraft)? The weekly update team would be best suited for something like this later down the road, I think.

 

This is perfect, its like you understand what bothered everyone about Terraria in the end haha and opening it up to the community sounds absolutely fantastic! !

 

I wonder if it will be on the steam workshop...

Post release content will give me a great excuse to keep starting new characters.

 

Cuz it's really freaking fun. Anyway, I agree with you with that the Minecraft updates are terrible. The way they do it with snapshots is the WORST.

 

There will be mod support, but there most likely won't be texture pack support. Since ya know, there's like... billions of different blocks and items.

 

Sounds too good to be true But hell, this whole project is too good to be true, so why not

I was typing a comment on this and some sort of coding console came up, should i be concerned or anything?

 

Did ya hit one of the Buttons on the Post Reply Interface? There a few different ones for different things, like a "Code" Button for Typing Computer Code into it in a easier to display way. This is especially useful for stuff like if you're having difficulties with Coding a Terraria Mod, or such things like that.

For the Topic: Is the Modding in Starbound gonna be able to bring things into the game that weren't there by default, like for example, creating brand new Weapon Blast Effects or such? (Like Custom Laser/Plasma Beams)

 

actually, there is no reason there cannot be texture pack support, I highly doubt there are really an obscene number of block types.
the reality is that many blocks will be "recolors" of a texture in the file, and as such the total number of different textures will not be too ridiculous to allow texture pack support.

(plus, people don't care how long it would take to make one, they WILL make one.)

 

About texture pack support, I think only main things would be re-textured, doors, guns and stuff like that .
