I was think that it would be AWESOME if there were planets in this game that looked like other games, or made references to other planets. An example would be something like a planet that was an 8-bit Super Meat Boy Planet, or a planet which looks like a Mario level on top or something like that. It's a silly idea, but I think it'd be awesome if you could find these planets rarely every now and again. You wouldn't be able to colonize them because the characters from whatever video games they are from are already occupying these planets, but you could trade with them and explore the planets. since you guys are talking about halo I thought Id give you this. On topic: it would be very cool but I think it should refference other space themed games like halo and deapspace and so on so forth.
This isn't exactly a planet, but somewhere, I want a destroyed Skeletron Prime head buried in the ground...
Other games do this a lot... I'm sure it's overlooked as long as they keep it to a minimum... Like I don't mean "Oh, you should copy the story line and have it be a side quest, and.... and make it like with the same graphics, and and..." I mean just like a little reference here and there.
It depends how you do it. Easter Eggs and nods to other games are generally quite accepted. Hell, there's even a Notched Pickaxe in Skyrim, despite the fact they were trying to sue Mojang for using the name 'Scrolls'.
