Planetary Shields

I think it would be cool to have a planetary shield that you could erect on planets. So you would need permission or a pass code to enter, and stop people from stealing all your air of course.


As long as the code isnt the same as my luggage.....

Thanks, it would be funny as well if you could build ot to varying degrees energy thru glass..... people in glass planets and all that.

And yeah, that would be useful for securi-fying your entire freaking planet on Multiplayer, instead of having to separately do each base. But what about the resources required? And anything else required to keep it from crashing into your planet due to uneven gravitational field-y stuff? If we were to build a bubble around Earth, it'd very likely crash into us

It's a great idea, but i thought it was being built on the planet, so it wouldn't crash into the planet...

Also, can natural satellites/space junk crash into your planet with the shield on?

 

I would imagine not, unless it was made out of like, 3 inch glass or something.
I would like to see that.
Meteor the size of your house > Traveling at insane speeds > Hitting a glass bubble around a planet that is only 3 inches thick
Explosive doomy death by sharp things on the planet awaits. Or just globs of molten glass. Wheeee.

Yeah I was thinking that if it was glass lets say there would be foundations or some such to keep it from falling, just giant pillars of glass like orbital elevators.

I imagine a planetary shield could be some kind of forcefield, not an actual wall But I like the idea. They may already have plans to protect your homeworld somehow, we'll have to wait and see

Either could apply I was thinking force fields at one end of the spectrum, but Spaceballs Air wall at the other
