It's hard to get a solid concept of what I mean, because we don't quite know how much time we will spend on each planet, but I will do my best to convey my idea clearly for you. Planetary Meta-Quests While exploring each planet, you will happen upon scripted or chance side quests that will lead the future of a planet down a particular path. Which of these "karmic" side quests you choose to accept and complete, or how you complete ones which may be manditory, will afftect the future of the planet. There can be rewards to be reaped for finishing a Meta quest chain. Example: Your team lands on a hostile planet. Through questing, you discover that an alien artifact is affecting the temperment of the local species. By weaving through the different paths of the "Meta Quest Chain" you can ultimately: Discover and study the artifact, unlocking reverse-engineed technologies and a monetary reward, but leaving the inhabitants hostile. Eliminate the native species and colonize, unlocking resource bonuses; but never solving the "mystery" of that particular planet. Work with NPCS to neutralize and extract the artifact, unlocking a varying range of rewards such as unique items, cultural rewards (if that will even be a thing) or pets. Well I hope that details a bit of what I was thinking. I understand if it's a bit too abstract or difficult to impliment. Thank you for your time and considersation, all the same.
I do like the idea of having a quest that affects that planet. Though I don't see why the natives of the planet would be hostile (or not) depending on whether they help or you do it yourself.
You're right, I wanted to put an example out there, but I think I should find a better one. Maybe be more specific too. Thanks!
