Planetary "beam down" markers

Being limited to a specific beam down zone makes perfect sense for the beginner spaceman (spacemonkey, spacefish, spaceplant, spacebird), however at some point it seems we'd be able to craft (or research?) an ability to place a limited number of "bookmarks" or "markers" on a planet.

It doesn't need to be affordable or even easy to obtain, but I think offering the option to the person who's willing to put in the time on a particular planet is necessary.

I personally would like to see designating a home beacon for beaming or something. There's many times I'd like to beam down to my specific house because it's on the other side of the planet away from spawn. But this is more because I play on a server.

This is exactly what I've been thinking since Beta started. I think it'd be perfect to just have an item you place down, and when you beam down to a planet, you beam down to wherever that item is placed. At surface level, of course; so if you placed it underground, it would either not function, or it would beam you that spot, just at the surface.

To make it even better, if there were multiple beacons on a planet, you could assign each beacon with a tag, and you could pick which beacon to beam down to by selecting the appropriate tag.

Agreed. I'd really like to be able to choose where I spawn on the planet, as it's not like I can take the entire avian dungeon out of the ground and put it by the spawn point.
If Terraria had had random places like this, I'd bet a lot of money that most people would want to set their spawn to a taken/found house. I Know I did a few times with the floating islands.
Same concept, it's more efficient to empty a dungeon and use it as a base, than it is to build your own.
It's so basic I'd hope this is already planned and just hasn't been put in yet because it's beta, and the point isn't yet to homestead someplace and store all your stuff there since there may be more character/universe wipes incoming.

At the very least I think allowing us to choose where we beam down to is pretty much a requirement. Everyone will get tired of having to walk for an in game day to get to that Avian village they've set their house up in.
