I actually thought of this while posting my suggestion for Space Wizards in the NPC's and Creatures section
    http://community.playstarbound.com/index.php?threads/space-wizards.3874/
and as the name suggests. It is the planet where Space Wizards originate from.
I know many of you are probably against the idea of magic in a sci-fi game but that's kind of ridiculous.
I actually explained this rather well I think in my other thread so I wil copy it here.

Who's to say that can't be a race of people or creatures that instead of technology used magic or rather "Space Magic" to attain A) a constant rate of evolutionary civilisation and  space travel. It is also viable answer to say that "Space Magic" is actually their own for of technology, and was created rather than suddenly brought into existence through some metaphysical event. It can also be said that they applied their magic into making objects that allow the evolutionary system to proceed, our current technology can be considered a form of magic in a sense as it brings various things together to form a whole and allow for say, space travel.

And just for the record Star Wars is Sci-fi and the force is basically a form of magic.

So yes this planet would be the planet where humans and varying other creatures evolved through magic as opposed to science, there would be towns, cities and villages that can be travelled to to complete quests for leagues of distraught townsfolk and the likes. Like say, slaying a dragon that would actually be an alien that arrived with a meteor or collecting various monster parts so they can complete their latest magical weapon that you would then get and it can shoot fireballs or something. Deviating from that actually some quests could actually have different objectives and you can get either a staff that shhots fire or a staff that shoots ice.
Anyway I seem to be going off topic so yes, a planet wear the Space Wizards came from and a different evolutionary system, that is what I want in this game, it would be fun, quirky and I really do just want to fight wizards in space with laser guns and robots.

In line with my suggestion in your Spacewizards Creature thread, this world could be a very advanced, but abandoned world, from where all the aliens have left once they've ascended to their current, all powerful form. :D

Hmmmm, yeah it's a possibility but I prefer the idea of a planet filled with magic to brimming with life as it were, with cities filled with tall skyscrapers or villages made of wooden houses.

As for how to get to the planet of Space Wizards or Space Weavers I had an idea just now
You use the Dimesional Implosion Grenade or D.I.G to create a path into another dimension which you have to fight your way through various monsters and other dimensional monstrosities to get to the exit portal which lands you on the planet of Space Wizards which for now at the lack of a better name shall be called Magicarnica.

All my current information on the D.I.G can be found at my other thread here

Magic in a science fiction game would be awesome. But to fit the futuristic theme have, the players use the planet's geothermal "heartbeat" to generate elemental powers. Meaning on desolate or "dead" (no active geology, no natural magnetic shield keeping solar winds away) planets the "magic" couldn't be used.

The viable argument against magic in a science fiction game is that it's inherently something that can't be explained. To try to explain magic is to defeat it's purpose and power entirely. So as technology and knowledge of the universe grows, magic shrinks. It would probably take a great deal of imagination to even use magic to your advantage which probably wouldn't happen in many space faring individuals. Yes I think in the future people may not have much imagination at all. (in fact i think the only face-to-face communication we as a race would be doing is by tee shirt)

That being said this is Starbound, not the real world. And as such, individuals (especially the protagonist, which usually has the inexplicable god like power of taking out entire civilizations by wielding only a paper clip, and a bag of potato chips) are probably brimming with imagination, and would be willing to accept magic as it is (something inherently hard to understand).
That being said, magic should have it's limitations.
    1. Magic can only be used on planets with active cores, trying on a desolate planet, or in space, would hurt the user greatly.
    2. When using magic on a planet a player would channel energy from either plant life around them (not a good source of power, easily expandable) or a more dangerous power source located in a planet's core, through a spell (which is made by channeling some form of arcane knowledge into whatever would accept it, ranging from a staff or book, to a particularly overdone bit of toaster strudel) the user channels the power of the planet through themselves into the object. This would be incredibly dangerous, like if someone were trying to power an electrical appliance by sticking their tongue in the wall socket, and their finger at the plug of the appliance.
    3. Unless the user wants to explode (which might be a funny way of taking out a boss for your friends) they would have to know the limits of their natural ability, which would be made easier with pieces of gear. A magic user would have notably decreased physical ability, due to the dangerous and self harming nature of the magic. (long term use can result in symptoms similar to radiation poisoning)
    4. To use the magic safely, the user probably doesn't want to wear heavy metal armor, as the magic could jump to it instead of being channeled through the user causing the player harm.

With my long and drawn out idea of magic out of the way. I'll add my ideas on the wizard planet idea. Since you want proper wizards with space travel, i'd suggest a planet that has sustained geothermal activity, such as large volcanoes and frequent earthquakes. To combat this the inhabitants would have to magically shield their dwellings. so possibly a planet dotted with cities, and at the center of them all is a barrier idol of some kind. Simply snatch the idol to destroy the city. (and incur the wrath of many wizards) I like the idea of a planet of entirely magical beings, albeit it would be filled with a lot of loons, and an explosion would probably go off every five minutes.
