Something that has got me thinking about the game is the difficulty system. It seems to me that the difficulty on lower level planets is not much different to the highest ones, as the ratio of damage:health seems to stay the around the same. I feel the only reason to go to higher sectors is for items/ores etc. I would much rather see the game get progressively more difficult the deeper you dig. There should be very high risk of digging deeper down to find rarer ores, and monsters so powerful you just have to avoid them or take them on with friends. I believe this would be better since the difficulty on each planet would depend on how deep you dig, rather than going to whatever sector/planet and knowing how hard it is instantly. TL : DR Planets should vary in difficulty depending on how deep you dig on a planet. Sectors should be scrapped in favour of individual planet difficulties.
I don't agree. difficulty is fine as it is and tiers break everything up into manageable segments. Maybe it should be a little harder underground but not so much you have to AVOID mobs completely and getting a friend to play with you. Also if you don't happen to have a friend willing to play SB it would be pretty hard to get pixels whilst mining in the early-game. I also like knowing how hard planets are before I land on them. So I can check if I am geared up enough to take it on or not.
Early game mining doesn' t require rare ores though (Don't have to dig deep) What I'm getting at with the avoiding thing is the fact that currently, you can quite easily just dig straight down without a care in the world. I think it would add to the gameplay a lot if you had to be careful and search where you are digging beforehand (maybe the new drop items on death and permadeath modes will remedy this). Planets could easily have a simple difficulty bar next to them, or 'threat level'.
