Planet CREATION!?

Okay, so far this game has everything, and I MEAN EVERYTHING! On top of that, it's not even done yet. So, why not be able to create your own planet? I mean yes It's one thing that you'll be able to find a nice planet and set is as your home, but what if later you want to combine all the things you like about various planets into one? Such as logging specific environments, creatures, plants, and other things in a journal or catalog of some sort. Store them on the space station, which could double as a sort of 'ark'. Then from there take various specimen from the different planets, plants, creatures, etc. (things you would be able to legitimately reproduce), and put them on your own planet!

    The PLANET itself:
The easiest way I can think to get the 'rock' itself would be to locate a large moon somewhere then from there use some type of machine to create an atmosphere for living organisms that wold otherwise die without one, but also you must use the right mix of atmospheric elements otherwise some plants and creatures might not survive! Also, after playing long enough, locating and exploring various planets, it would be possible to locate a way to make a machine of some sort that could accumulate stray asteroids and such, draw them all to one location that would later be dense enough to create a planet.

    PLANT life:
As for the plants, after creating an atmosphere, you can bring plants (saplings or otherwise) that you have store on your ship to the planet that you choose. Also in the early stages of planet creation; specifically after you have created an atmosphere, storms are constant to speed up plant growth. Also maybe there could be some type of item wielded by the player that sprays a fertile plant mist where aimed so you can be a bit more biome specific about certain areas. This item would require seeds or saplings as ammo. As the environment takes shape the background would shift accordingly. Other tools similar to the previous could also help speed up the growth of plants.

CREATURES:Other elements like creatures and wildlife would depend on what creatures you have captured and cataloged. Again, all this would be store in your space station that can double as an 'ark' of sorts, moreover, you only have limited room in the ship but this can be upgraded with resources you find on various planets. After the proper plants and atmosphere are added to your planet, you can then start populating it with any creature of you favorite creatures found throughout the galaxy. After a while these creatures will develop and adapt to your planet based on atmosphere, gravity, plants, and other things that might randomly emerge. These evolution can then cause unique bosses, and hybrid animals and creatures to spawn to spawn. All unique to YOUR planet!

    OTHER
    things:
After certain events take place and specific biomes and other conditions are met, your planet can start to take its own unique shape. Not varying too much from the original, but enough to where its noticed and to be unique to your planet. Example of this could be the use of two specific plants on your planet could lead way to a newly generated plant not found anywhere else or the birth of a plant that you could find somewhere else but is more rare anywhere else, either that or you just simply haven't found it yet. Also, in contrast, the existence of a specific plant, newly generated or otherwise, could randomly spawn a brand new creature! Again found only on your planet. Even things such as ores or liquids could be affected by the size, mass, gravity and planet atmosphere, giving birth to undiscovered ores different color liquids or unique liquids with their own varying qualities!
In addition to all this awesomeness; of course all this would take a considerable amount of playtime to gather the materials, thus you would fall in love with the planet, you did create it, after all, it's basically your child. So what if after sometime you planet starts to flourish, this suddenly puts your planet on the radar for other races. They want your resources! So randomly, when your planet is valuable enough, you can be attacked by space pirates or other higher lifeforms! And more prepared you are for these attacks, the better you defend your planet, and the better you defend you planet the higher your planets difficulty will go up. This rating will be a warning to hostile lifeforms, but in the end, is more dangerous for you!
This list could actually go much further, but even then, I still wouldn't even come close to all the things that potentially could be listed here through imagination alone. In fact I think this would be such a neat feature I encourage anyone who read this to comment below on your own idea that you think would fit nicely to go along with this post. You think I missed something? Please comment below I'd love to hear your thoughts! Thanks for reading! :]

to actually CREATE a planet, just drop a gravity generator in an asteroid field, wait a few hundred million years, TADA, you have your own self-created planet

I think it will be faster in Starbound.

So basically endgame Spore with some elements added like ores and other things generated based on what the planet has in it. Maybe, as you said, when your planet gets "on the radar" some people will want to go live there, forming settlements.

What if you could literally build a planet? It would begin with building a large metal orb, and you would then bring in dirt and rocks to fill the planet out. This would allow you to do crazy stuff, like physics-defying cube planets, a ring-shaped world, or an entirely mechanical planet.

How do you know what time is it when you're in space? Time varies on different planets so therefore you can't actually calculate a correct time.

I would prefer it to take like 1 week to several months for the planet to fully grow.

    Contradict much?

In Star Trek, Kirk had a star date, it was maintained by a log that centered around their own ship, right? Could be the same in Starbound. Either that or have universal to intergalactic time, one of the two.

So Who here as seen Star Trek 2: Wrath of Khan? Does anyone remember what happen with the the Genesis torpedo? Yeah... planetary creation while harmless in nature is a weapon all in it's self... Screw the death star project... a torpedo that terraform the planet into what i want? Or makes a planetoid to launch at another planet? Bud... you think a meteor five miles long would mess up earth... just think of what would happen if you hit earth with the moon or another earth. Great idea but it would need to be regulated to an extreme amount so bored people dont drop moons on you
