Using some kind of machinery near the core will cause a "portal" to open, which leads to Dark World version of this planet. Pretty much something like that.
I would like to put high powered explosives into a (eligible core, liquid/nickel etc.) core and effectively wipe it from the face of the star map
God yes. But it would be more on the side of legit in-game rules jack-assery then griefing. Player: Dude my awesome super mega-cannon was on that planet. Me: Lol
You would probably need a special suit to let you swim in magma to get past the mantle. (given said planet has one)
I would find it to be awesome if you discovered that the core itself was the boss of the planet. After defeating it, I could imagine the boss's 'carcass-core' would pose as the treasure room, or the planet begins to collapses on itself and kill everything on it. Either way it could make for a cool side-quest.
SIDE-quest? I don't understand you! Maybe the whole planet is a huge alien with other aliens on it and if you kill a block of it that block gets destroyed, like mining but with weapons. And when you get to the core it starts spawning super tough aliens and then when you kill em you get into the loot room, in the very middle of the planet.
This makes alot of sense, I would be very surprised if it is not already in the game :I I hope this will be included
Not to at all mention that if the developers were feeling evil...and well developers love to be evil. That they would make it so when you get to the mantle...or liquid portions, the moment you bust through all that stuff would squirt you out like a flaming pimple making a volcano. Heh... pressure, gota love it.
+1 this entire discussion. Especially the ability to destroy an entire planet from its core. Considering I plan on wiping any planet with tentacles off of the map immediately upon discovery, this would come quite in handy. Quite in handy indeed.
