i am curious, will the center be realistic? or will there even be a point where both you and the screen flip because you on the other side of the planet. hopefully this makes sense, here is a funny meme. [IMG]

It wouldn't make sense because the world isnt rounded

Since planets can be circumvented from left to right, there's a possibility there's a core to each planet of varying material and biome. Too bad planets aren't truly round, you won't dig through one end and out the other like in a cartoon.

  4. Yes the planets are circular, but you wont notice it while inside the planet.

The Planet End it's in it's Core, it will be a special biome, lava, etc... But like in Terraria, it's where it ends. ^^

It won't do the crazy flip thing you mentioned, I am pretty sure, but I think there will be a lower mantle/core dealio, yes.

Chucklefish stated in the IAMA they did on Reddit that there will be no flipping because there's no way to do it that would work well without being confusing to the player. When you reach the core of a planet you will not be able to proceed any further.

Haha, it'd be cool if a planet was so small that it was like Mario Galaxy, and you could easily walk around it.

  8. There are planets that are small enough that you can in fact walk all the way around them. In fact If i am not mistaken... ALL planets will be this way.

You can start at one point, and if you keep walking in one direction you will eventually end up back where you started.

As for digging DOWN to the other side of the planet... That wont happen. They are implementing an impenetrable "core" to the planet, so while the planets are circular and you can walk AROUND THEM, you can not dig "through" one.

Think of the map like a long rectangle, you can go up to max height, and down to max depth, but if you go left, you'll eventually hit the end of the rectangle and seamlessly 'teleport' to the other side of the map, pretty much making it 'round'. I believe that's how it's going to work.

As GreatEvilBetty said, there will be a core, which might be lava and then under that, a layer of rock that you can't mine.

Tiy has said that the core of a planet will be filled with lava and bedrock.

That's definitely how it's going to work.

I really hope they let you mine into the core of the planet, then have it so hostile that you get burned/frozen to death extremely quickly when you get in there. I don't want any silly invulnerable blocks stopping you from getting to the core of a planet and wiping your ass from existence for being dumb :). (And I mentioned frozen because not all real planets have molten cores :p)

Aww, I was kinda hoping I could dig a hole through the planet, jump in, and fall forever. :(

I don't think you can actually get to the core. Unless I'm mistaken, there is a point where you simply cannot mine any further.

I think when Tiy mentioned the "core" of a planet, he spoke about it like a biome area, with monsters, special ore, etc. Similar to hell in Terraria. You won't be able to pass through it, but it will be its own biome.

the core of a planet and the molten material (in the case of the earth is iron) so I guess as terraria at some point we will find just a lot of hot lava fantasizing who knows maybe we could find geothermal power plants abandoned

Yeah, that sounds about right. I knew there was a point you couldn't go past somehere.
