It should have a WHOLE planet of its own and like the background should have a dark orange ambient appearance and Headstones and dead trees and dark green dead grass enemies include:

    1. Wraiths: they float towards you phase through all objects

    2. Poltergeists: Yeah can't see them until they attack or when they thrash around blocks and such, Or they could be faintly visible and fully appear when attacking or thrashing, they can selectively throw things at you and try to hurt you.

    3. Passive Mob until: Spirits/Blue orbs: They passively float in the overworld when attacked they mindlessly attack you until put down.

I know I´ll sound grumpy for saying this, but no thanks, sounds more like fantasy elements in a sci-fi game

But sounds neat right? cool to try out?

no...because of the above point it´s think from a complete diffrent genre, that it´s supernatural things in a Science-fiction game, things are only cool if they belong there. At least in my book.

That would be great! As long as there are randomly genorated ghost stories to go along with it. I approve totally.

And to take on the above argument. What if it was just an alien race made up of energy? Though I believe fantasy in sci-fi is great and would be neat to see personally.

Maybe a planet that has been exhausted from basic resources (like water) and then the natives were killed off? Or possibly a planet consumed by radiation and the player requires special gear to survive the toxins? These two ideas seem to fit the 'Haunted' theme in a Sci-Fi manner.

    Thats a great Idea!

Well, you're a bit an odd character for recommending this, Fluttershy. I thought you much preferred things not being dead?

But seriously though, flat-out "Cursed" planets seems a bit off in Sci-Fi. Admittedly, I can't say I know too much of the genre, but still.
Both of Ethric's ideas seem much more appropriate, if you ask me.

A race of energy beings, like Snowy_Night pointed out, I think would be awesome.
Somewhat like the Metriod series Chozo.

I like this idea, but maybe with a different twist, like perhaps on a regular planet that has a lot of spiritual creatures ,etc it could be the version of the planet when night hits. By day it looks nice and what not, then by night turns into something no one would want to be left alone in even a adult lol. Sorta like how Silent hill transitions.

If you want to go for the whole cursed and barely habitable style, having an irradiated hellworld with radiation suited inhabitants raiding for supplies at night would be interesting.

I like the idea of a "haunted" planet
But Not by ghosts, I would prefer ethereal space beings.

keep the ghosts and zombies to other games.

I do not see why some people do not want ghosts or zombies in the game to be honest, many sci-fi space movies have some form of a zombie'ish type item in them. Personally the more planet types that fit into sci-fi I say the better. Also if you think ghosts, zombies and/or spirits are fantasy then you must have quiet the negative look. Look at avatar as example. The whole planet had "fantasy" looking stuff in it but the movie was clearly sci-fi. Either way, I say the more planet types the better, it will increase the chances of some really unique galaxy/universe map generations.

I would have to say its not a bad idea and people that say that there were no supernatural critters in a space Sci-Fi has not seen Event Horizon (I recommend this movie)
