I saw this when taking my first peek at the game files today, this occurred to me but I had yet to actually look into it. But this could work easily I think. If you added some form of cheaty mod that lets you craft the objects needed for the ship functionality, call upon the variable for fuel, and so on I am sure it won't be hard to do. After all I have seen mods that let you craft more pixels out of less pixels (that is a lie I made one for screwing around) and set all recipes to take 1 pixel (also made that myself for screwing around reasons). So that it takes no time at all to make what I want. So in theory you can do that with the ship functionality items, such as teleporter platform, fuel input, and so on. It is all quite simple if you think about it. This would allow for a planet ship easily enough.
No, nonononono, you misread. All of that is easy. Takes no more than 5 minutes. The problem is, when you place down the fuel hatch, it gives you 0/0 fuel. And to be able to know what calls on the variable for fuel, we have to decode the .shipworld file so that it's readable instead of a bunch of NUL tags. So therefore, I'd welcome you to try.
Sadly my lia is too rusty for this action, but I may attempt to do so when and as I am able to have time. It sounds fun.
I think you misunderstand me. What i'm saying is make a ship with simmilar properties to planets, not a exactly copy-paste of the planet data. Surely the game can be bypassed either way?
That may work, but it would require more work than I think it would be worth, IMO, because then you have to create 2 images the size of a planet or however large you want it to be, which I would imagine, is pretty large. That is, unless, someone could write a program to take the generation of a given planet, and generate a PNG for both the blocks and the background data. Hmm.
Is it possible to rename a planet without Botching the everything? A server that i frequent will soon have my ship orbiting spawn as a planet, however, the problem is that it would either be nameless, or Named after the replaced planet, So i need to change it to my ship's name "That Dirty Hooker Stole My Wallet"
One of the biggest problems I think exist is the fact that the ship is a fixed image, whereas a planet has procedurally generated data, and fluid entities, eg water.
I myself am interested in this. For the descriptions of each planets - (Surface Analysis: No breathable atmosphere), etc - is that just drawing from a pool of strings based on the planet's level?
