Sure, coal and trees for an engine is fine but add pixels to that mix. Make each pixel worth like half a unit of fuel or something so people don't have to strip every forest planet of trees and then get stuck somewhere when they run out of fuel or get a bad starting planet.
Since the nature of pixels is that they are matter that you use to make stuff. if i need them top make a wooden table, why cant i burn them in the furnace? i power the ship with coal and wood. why not pixels? why not tar, for that matter. tar is combustible.
Except thats NOT what you said. you said: "Show me where tar is in the game then we'll talk." And someone else other than me confirmed it is there. You basically tried to sidestep my initial questions by trying to be snide and slick and ended up proving you haven't explored the game enough to even have a valid opinion, since you didn't even know tar did, in fact, exist. So i ask again, by what logic should we limit fuel to just coal and wood? shouldnt any combustible substance work for fuel? Why just coal and wood? Why have all these other useless blocks and why can we not apply logic to this and make it so that any flammable matter can be used as fuel? If its an issue with the abundance of tar, maybe we should be able to refine it into coal. in keeping with the op, if pixels are used in all crafting under the logic that they are universal matter, why can't they be used for fuel?
Good idea, it'll be a good alternative to coal and wood. Can be bloody expensive so you use it in an emergency like a get.out.of.this.planet.thats.out.of.my.league.but.I.don't.have.any.wood.or.coal. card
Don't get too excited now buddy, you're right, I was in the level 8 planets when this post was made and hadn't quite discovered Tar, so for that I apologise, but as for Pixels, it's not logical... tar is, wood is, coal is, currency isn't!
you always say currency, but I highly doubt pixels are meant to be called like this. sure, they are used like one in the world of Starbound, but mostly they are the matter of things, the molecule the world is made from. At least I see them like this, noticing their role in crafting and the printer. In that context making them an option to burn would absolutely make sense, and personally i think it would be a viable option to chopping down a whole planet's wood supply.
We're talking logical, is Pixel currency? Is it what is used to buy things from Merchants? Therefore it is Starbounds currency. So what you're basically saying is to pay your ship to travel to other planets... that doesn't work. Pixels are NOT a combustible fuel in which allows your Ships engine to run.
What's the matter on getting Wood and Coal? They are plenty of them each world. Pixels as fuel just doesnt make any sense to me, unless you use them in a Spacial Gas Station or something...
Spuffed, you are completely ignoring the other use of pixels. what is more likely?1. you paying the merchant with money and in the same process paying your anvil to make you a sword and a helmet or 2. providing your anvil with the raw matter to craft all the things in this world and paying the merchant with the same matter that got its value through its ability to form desired items? 1. is what you say, and it's a bit ridiculous, really..
I made a post concerning this. Here was my idea. http://community.playstarbound.com/...ed-illumination-x-expected-light-space.41782/
You use Pixels to buy a sword. Since when do you "craft" a sword with Pixels? Through 3d printer? That's not crafting, that's creating.
