The goal was to give the player a basic sci-weapon to start with that was more in keeping with the sci-fi themes in the game. Artwork by Markavian based on the Buster gun found in the items/guns/test/ folder. Installation instructions: 1) Extract the files from this zip into the mods/ folder in your Starbound directory. 2) Edit your bootstrap.config file - in either (linux32/, linx64/, win32/, Starbound.app/Contents/MacOS/) to include this mod: e.g: { "assetSources" : [ "../assets", "../mods/mkv25" ], "storageDirectory" : ".." } Version History: 4 WIP - Fixed .lvlfunctions being ignored by renaming to .functions 3 WIP - Fixed missing .lvlfunctions file - didn't realise it was broken because I didn't test on a new character - gun properties get saved with existing characters 2 WIP - Added Phazerifle with large version of buster projectile - Modified design of Phazor and created 1/2 sized buster project with smoke effect instead of explosion - Updated mod structure to use a community friendly method of installation See http://community.playstarbound.com/index.php?threads/the-proper-way-to-install-mods.41929/ 1 WIP - Created phazor weapon and added as starter weapon to all races Asset files: The files for the mod can be found in: mkv25/items/guns/mkv25/ mkv25/projectiles/phazor/ mkv25/recipes/phazortech/ mkv25/treasure/default.treasurepools TODO: Add recipes and gun variants Space Metal : [steel bar] + [copper bar] Battery Pack : [space metal] + [coal] + [silver bar] Large Battery Pack : 2 x [battery pack] + [gold bar] 1 Handed: Phazor - set for stun : 5 x [space metal] + [battery pack] Charge Phazor - chargeable : [phazor] + [large battery pack] Super Phazor - faster rate of fire, lower energy consumption : [charge phazor] + [titanium bar] 2 Handed: Phazerifle - 2-handed higher damage version of Phazor : [charge phazor] + 10 x [space metal] Charge Phazerifle - [phazerifle] + 2 x [large battery pack] Super Phazerrifle - faster rate of fire, lower energy consumption : [charge phazerifle] + 2 x [titanium bar] Thanks... - Thanks to people in the thread for feedback and ideas - Thanks to hints_ for testing
@abrokenchinadoll - well, most guns are slightly phallic, but yeah I see what you mean, might make a few adjustments. Was going for a TNG Startrek style phaser. @Jecoconono - Upgradeable? e.g. craft it into different versions of the same weapon? I quite like that idea... Space Metal : [steel bar] + [copper bar] Battery Pack : [space metal] + [coal] + [silver bar] Large Battery Pack : 2 x [battery pack] + [gold bar] 1 Handed: Phazor - set for stun : 5 x [space metal] + [battery pack] Charge Phazor - chargeable : [phazor] + [large battery pack] Super Phazor - faster rate of fire, lower energy consumption : [charge phazor] + [titanium bar] 2 Handed: Phazerifle - 2-handed higher damage version of Phazor : [charge phazor] + 10 x [space metal] Charge Phazerifle - [phazerifle] + 2 x [large battery pack] Super Phazerrifle - faster rate of fire, lower energy consumption : [charge phazerifle] + 2 x [titanium bar] Thinking: upgrades should be straight forward to access based on spare materials without having to work too hard. I think waiting until after first boss for access to steel is a good place to start doing upgrades, with the top level upgrade requiring something fairly high like titanium to make the weapon more useful as the game continues.
Yeah, you can upgrade it stronger and stronger by using the gun with other materials and making a different better material one, changing the projectile color, usage and size too, also make it more long ranged and stronger
Update! The phazerifle is a lot of fun, feels nice to have a beefier version to compare against the handheld phazor, and I think it looks good as a two handed weapon as well. @abrokenchilnadoll again, I sharpened up the edges of the phazor to make it, err, less, shapely. Bug fix: missing .lvlfunctions file required v2 won't work, v3 should be fine.
