It took me a while to decipher the fact that the dark patches surrounding Winter tree trunks (maple and oak) are their leaves' same shadow not changed to reflect the fact the trees are bare in Winter. A Winter shadow of branches top-down "intertwined" would seem appropriate. A tiny detail that didn't exactly ruin anything prior to registering but which I cannot un-see *shrug*
I see what you mean it also sort of happens in the calico desert when you chop down a tree a the shadow stays there
