Pet taming

exactly, it was my first thought too. maybe it's something artificial, like a temple in the middle of the ocean? maybe hylotl?

 

It's just a piece of space debris in orbit around the planet. You can see several other pieces in the screenshot.

you mean like how some pokemon just accept being caught without actually throwing balls at it?
in the games they just wait for you though, then they see if you are strong enough by battling you.

Actually, I used the word "caught" for an obvious cameo, but the case is that any monster can be caught using anything that will be in the game, if it is a small techball or just a lash. To top it, the universe is widely diverse, so you also can find some creature that can think or have some intelligence, despite being a creature. Think dolphins, apexes and some dogs.

edit: On another note, I wonder if one can trade pet capsles? That would be totally awesome, since monsters are procedurally generated I'm guessing that it would be difficult to find the same monster again.
Unless, of course, the type of monster on a planet is predetermined. Then you could just obtain the coordinates for where it can be found.

 

The first stage evolution may vary. And probably we got a second stage also.

 

actually, monsters are procedurally generated per planet if i remember correctly, and not individually. that means that if you find a rly cool monster, you could send the coordinates to your buddy for him to go on a little hunting safari

If there is going to be pokemon lookalike pets, i want a pet Aipom. that is my most favourite pokemon . or a pet mareep or flaafy! and... and *starts listing off favourite pokemon*
in all honesty though, i think the pet system is going to be awesome. I'm a massive fan of having pets in any game (main WoW char (when i played it) being a hunter, main DnD char being a "beast master" ranger, my pet's name is Sir Mittens Mc Bubbles ) I would most likely spend a LOT of time searching for the perfect looking pet, capture it, and find out its parts renders it completely useless.

I wonder if you have to add extra engines and bigger tanks for fuel as the ships get bigger...
