Hi, I don't know what the devs wish to do with personnality but from what I've seen, you just select a personnality and your character keeps a stance according to it. Now my proposal is that by a simple button, you happen to be able to change the stance of your character. It would add alot to the social part of the game. So let's say, pressing the number between 1 and 6 on my num pad would define the emotion of my character between one of these six. Wouldn't that be great and simple? I mean, it's just choosing a different sprite when immobile, nothing too complicated to program here. Let's take for exemple: I asked a friend of mine to build the base when I'm gone and when I get back well I'd take either the discontent or proud stance depending on how succesfull he was on making the base. It would had lots of fun to the game don't you think?
Rather than having to press buttons to switch personalities what about this being included in character creation, sort of like DC Universe Online and it could affect your stance and maybe interaction with objects.
Not a bad idea, but being stuck with a certain pose your whole starbound career seems a bit much.. As for the OP great idea, as for how to use them /commands should do the trick, especially for RP'ers out there, but preferably without the "#### is surprised" spam in chat. Players can always use other ways of drawing attention to the fact that they are posing in a certain manner. Im sure even non RP'ers would use em. A big (thumbs up)
Perhaps a UI element rather than taking up several keys for RP purposes, or an overall personality which you can change in your spaceship that you define in character creation?
That's what I don't want, being stuck with the same stance is quite boring. Emotions are a dynamic thing, we don't keep the same stance all the time in real life, our emotions change through time. Althought it would be very secondary to the game, I think this feature is quite simple to add and would only add some fun to the game; you never have enough of that. If six keys are too much for you, you can just stick with a single stance, I mean, like I said, it's secondary to the game, not everyone will play like RPers, I probably won't. But its always useful to have more options. And anyway, you won't change your stance a bilion time in a single minute, it's more like something you'd change once or twice every hour. It's a very little feature, but you've got to admit that it could truly enhance the social part of the game.
Excellent suggestion. I also think that it is better to have emotion sprite change available through menus somewhere by default, and if someone wants to keybind several of his favorite emotion states to some keys — he should be able to.
Awesome idea, Vincey. I see what you mean when you say it would enhance social interactions between players (especially when it comes to RPers); and personally I would definitely use this system if it, or any system similar to it, were added to Starbound.
I think its a pretty neat idea, however, wouldn't that require some pretty hefty changes and to each of the sprite sheets?
Would be better if there was a key to open a menu with each stance, rather than having separate keys for each stance individually.
Not a bad idea. It's the little details that make the big picture, right? I shall judge all the poses since they are naked. Normal: Pelvic thrust/ air hump? Proud: He's proud of the size of his D. Discontent: No, you may not have the D. Surprised: WHY ARE YOU WATCHING ME SHOWER?! Relaxed: Just passin' through.....Without my underpants.... Steady: Prepare your anus.
