So, this is a bit of a three-pronged Idea, and I'd appreciate general feedback on them, and maybe potentially seeing it in the game, if it's fitting. NOTE: THIS IS MAINLY FOR THOSE OF US WANTING THE CODEX TO BE A BIGGER PART OF STARBOUND. Seriously, this could potentially be a massive gameplay feature, but as it is now, it feels more like a sort of just "thing". I know that in the current state of Starbound, it may NOT be feasible, but later on, I'd like to see this as a potentially bigger thing that we can utilize. Idea 1: Personal Codexes; So, Personal Codexes would be along the lines of a Journal, sorted with customizable tabs for specific entries. For instance, for those of us that are Chefs, there would be a Tab dedicated to Recipes. Each new Entry in this Tab would be put in, and be fully sortable. Keep in mind that NOT everyone would be forced to Have this "Recipes" tab, as one can set whatever they want as the tab's name, and mousing over it would give you a custom tooltip that you'd be able to set yourself. It could be used for various things: RP, keeping track of various Co-Ordinates or finds on certain planets, or even a shopping list for when you find that Apex settlement. EDIT ADDENDUM: No personal limit has been set, so it's feasible to have up to, say, 10 big tabs, for various things that aren't just recipes. And by "Recipes" I currently mean various food effects. Idea 2: Sortable Codex; By this I mean that Codexes would automatically be sorted between Found and Made, and the Found Codexes would be sorted further by either time found, alphabetical, or Source. It's hard getting to read all the codexes we have at the moment, because of how cluttered the Codex we have is at the moment. A simple tweak, and bringing in-line the Personal Codexes as well, it would make the Codex likely more used. As it stands now, my biggest complaint is the cluttered and stiffness, the Codexes already in-game are a JOY to read. Idea 3: Codex Overhauls; This would mainly just be an option to look at Unlocked Crafting Recipes, re-read Quest Descriptions from both accepting and completing a quest, And would include the Sortable and Personal Codexes, as well as an option to use various Books, found all over the Galaxy, to COPY a Personal Codex, to share with a friend in multiplayer. When used, the Personal copy would drop into the Personal Codex Tab, under a larger "Received" tab. It would also have an option to check your S.A.I.L., and see if you already have a piece of furniture in your 3D printer, as well as an option to double check various item recipes, so you can see if it takes 2 or 5 eggs to make that omelette on your ship, without having to be at the table. This will require you to HAVE the items' recipe in question. That's just the base of my ideas. I would GREATLY appreciate feedback, and any extra ideas that I may not have covered, or just straight-up hate for it, that does seem to happen when suggesting something that has no effect on actual gameplay, right after a patch that changes a lot of gameplay, at least in my experience with Warframe. For the Codex itself, it'll remain as a Menu Item on the right that you can bring up, but it'll just be similar to S.A.I.L., in that we have more options with it open. So, without any more delays, thoughts?
