People need to realize that ignoring others is extremely rude

I agree with the premise of this thread. I've been on several servers and usually people will just talk to people they know while ignoring you completely.

However, that over-reaction. Dick move OP, dick move.

A couple is sitting at a restaurant having a conversation, you sit down at their table and start trying to get in on the conversation, they ignore you.

"WHY THE FUCK WON'T YOU TALK TO ME?! -flip table- -pour piping hot coffee into their laps-"

"JUSTICE!"

 

Yeesh, that's probably the best argument for not playing online I've read yet.

 

So other players were being a little rude, and you one upped them by being an asshole?

 

when you talk in a resturant it's meant for each other, it's not a global chat like it is in game. If you don't want to be bothered with other players use the planet chat, instead of the global chat.

 

On the off chance that the OP isn't a troll, realize something. In every game, on every server, you're going to have cliques. Groups of people that only associate with each other and shun outsiders of any kind. This is unavoidable, and whining that you couldn't instantly start to play with perfect strangers (and then proceeded to justify their shunning you with your actions) just makes you look silly.

If they're not talking to you, they're not talking to you.

Doesn't matter where they're talking. Just because they happen to be in global chat, doesn't make them obligated to answer your dumb ass questions... They could be on 2 different planets and enjoying a chat as well.

 

So why did you even make the comparison?

 

you just fail to get the point. There are many options if you don't want to talk to new commers, for example:

• talk in planet chat so you don't constantly seem like you're intentionally ignoring others and talking over them
• tell him in global chat, we don't know if you're a griefer so we can't invite you
• say your coordiantes, or say you're too lazy to go read them off of your ship
• tell him we don't need another playing in our gang.

all of which are less rude than plain ignoring.

Or, you could just ignore them.

 

That still doesn't change the fact that you completely overreacted over something so trivial.

 

So you stoop lower than them because they're ignoring you? Sounds like you need to grow up, and find a different server, or play by yourself.

 

That's not what mutual respect means.

Mutual respect means them not being able to tell you to shut up if you decided to also start having a conversation in global chat. They are completely within their rights to ignore you however.

You have no clue what you're talking about. They're not obligated to make sure that your feelings aren't hurt.
