If people expect anything more than an unfinished game then it'll happen.

This game in the Beta will be pretty unfinished. We've put up most of the framework and will have to build up the content seeing that at least 7 whole tiers won't be in the Beta, and the others will be incomplete and need plenty of testing. The difference between the game now and the game at the end of the Beta will be night and day (Beta will last several months at least). I hope you can all reign in your expectations like the crazy ones I see proclaiming this will be the best game ever made. Wait for actual non-Beta release before making such claims!

Building off of this post, are the devs planning on bricking the beta version that's on steam when they deem it over, and will people still be able to play the executable copy's?

Some people are treating Starbound as if it is best game ever made. While I admit Starbound looks great, I agree that Beta will be a letdown for some people.

 

The only expectation I have and the only one Chucklefish could mess up on is not releasing a beta this year. Aside from that, the game can be in whatever state they want. I'll still play, and still find enjoyment.

 

idk man if starbound could do both what reason would there be for disappointment it would be extra good especially for people in need of those services lke for instance i wake up at 6am drive 2 hours to my technical school and work till 3pm no lunch break because our school administration are ass holes no time for breakfast and no fast food joints are open that early so if starbound could make me breakfast id be in heaven

 

I want to know what all that preorder money was spent on. They made this big argument about how if they could have all this money it would help them work full time on the project and this and that...

Well, it's been years and nothing. Where did all that money go. I think more likely someone built a jacuzzi in their backyard....

I mean please... Tell me it was a jacuzzi... At least then it would have actually created some sort of physical product that people can touch and interact with.

That is to be expected,however,Starbound already did what had to be done,this was my dream game a long time,i dreamed to have 2D platformer with destroyable enviroment and flying to space like Kerbal space program
This tough has been built from moment i played metroid,and it became in SO many years real,for me,it did more then the expectations,ALOT more...

However,that is just what you wrote,the final thing can be completely different from mine,and yours...
