People are going to be disappointed.

I am not going to be making any friends with this thread, but I felt like saying it.
Beta Starbound will not live up to people's expectations.
I know that I will love the game, and am sure it will be amazing, but some people are definitely gonna be all "that's it? I shouldn't have preordered it, onto the next Call of Duty." The purpose of this thread is to say not to flame these people, and spark discussion.
OH YEAH WAIT! Please don't say that I haven't played or really seen the game yet, so I have no idea what people will think. It's a concrete fact that this much hype for this much long will equal disappointment.

Starbound could perform sexual favours and make you breakfast, and people would still be disappointed. Rightfully so, considering how much it's been hyped.

 

Well you don't know that. The extra time they have taken will surely make it better. And yeah some people won't like it, that is a fact. Not everyone likes everything. But I for one am extremely happy with what I have seen and think it will live up/go beyond what we expect. And I'm gonna say it but no one (except Yog's Cast and some people at I49) have played the game. So how can we really know for sure. Just because there is alot of hype doesn't mean its gonna crash and burn.

 

Oh, I never meant that the game won't be a success. But you can't expect something to go beyond your expectations, that's a paradox.

 

Well I don't expect it to per say. It might though who knows. Only time will tell.

 

Nah, I think the people who stayed back and didn't get as hyped near the release might enjoy it, and also the people so hyped that they just want to play it will enjoy it. With all the info we're getting, I'm pretty sure the people who didn't enjoy it will already be suspicious.

Eh, so long as we have a lot of items to create and find in the first three tiers I think people will be pretty happy. It would be rather annoying to be limited to only wood and the absolute most basic of placable items.

why is this the go to insult. Everyone throws it around like it has some sort of meaning.

Also no, there is nothing to discuss here. You're generally trying to get people mad when you say "hurr durr you guys won't like the game just go play call of duty whereas I am a special snowflake and will be able to like the game"

 

Beta Starbound probably will be something of a disappointment, especially with all the hype flying around.

I'm sure release will do much better. I'm sure Starbound will end up living up to expectations, perhaps in post-release updates if not release.

The gist of OP's thread is thus: Misguided beta players are going to think the beta is the complete release, and become supremely disappointed when they learn the game is buggy as hell.
