Effective, but doesn't have that special, lasting feeling. You could just re-open the game after Alt+F4, but good luck opening the game without System 32.
Or we could just go back to the System32 deletion idea.

True, true. I hadn't really thought about that. Maybe you wake up in the same spot, like one of those knocked unconscious type games, and you see a space hobo running away from you carrying your money.

It's too over the top though! After a while, most of us would simply never run the game in Administration mode. Not to mention that most of the files are protected anyway.

If you simply shut down the game after a death, it becomes much more frightening, and there isn't much you can do to protect a game from automatically shutting down. I would be terrified >_>

Hahahahaha. That would be such salt in your wounds! I like it xD

Could we then proceed to chase down and mercilessly slaughter the space hobo that mystically appeared on a planet over 500 degrees?

OKAY OKAY... We'll start at System1 and work our way up. That good?

I think it would be much better if after every death, the game automatically uninstalls itself and deletes the files from your computer.

So you have to re-download and reinstall it every time you die ^^

I hope so. Maybe that's how you have to get your gear back! A time limit before he goes off planet.

    Deal!

Your're there, so why can't he be? Maybe he's stalking you. You could, but too late, he already stole your hover bike and flew away.

I may be over-thinking it at this point... Too many options...

But I has special armors!... Curse those Space Hobo's and their ability to survive on uninhabitable planets.

My internet is fast enough. I am okay with this.
What if each time you die, the game releases a nasty virus into your system?

Better overthought than underthought, right? =P

I know what you mean, I frequently enjoy re-installing a game before I play it because I just died. One of my favourite hobbies

At least it forces you to take a break after playing for 8 hours straight. :)

What if each time you die, your computer injects you with a lethal toxin that overtakes your body, rendering you completely helpless until you meet your untimely demise?

When you're a hobo in space, you learn to deal with these types of thing.
Space mites in your blanket made out of leave? Oh well.
Someone pissing on your head? Free shower.
500 degree planet? There might be food on it.

Maybe the space hobo wanted to eat as after we died?
That would make a pretty good penalty though..
