So I've read through the various species descriptions that I've found, and they are all pretty messed up! I've found that I would always be the "outsider" of each species, and while I realize this may be intentional to encourage a diverse group of species working together, it would be nice to have a species I identify with. I'd like to see one of the species be the interstellar hippies of the universe. I was thinking the Hylotl would be a good choice for this considering the life giving qualities of water. Water can also take away life, so there can be a dark aspect to them as well. Maybe a dark past that they've learns from? I'm also not a huge fan of the species name perhaps something like Sutol, Soult, or Tuslo, which are all lotus (an aquatic flower with spiritual significance) rearranged? Anyhoo, almost everything I read about this game is amazing, so keep up the great work, and please have mercy on the weak of patience lol.
If there's going to be a chillaxed, nice guy species, then there needs to be an aggressive, angry, violent species to counterbalance them. Honestly, I vote for humanity as the violent species. We breathe highly combustible gas, constantly fight eachother, we are forced to institute LAWS against hunting other species because we're so good at killing that they'd all go extinct within a week without regulation, we poison our water and air, nearly all of our technological innovations begin as some form of weapon, and we even killed our God and nailed him to a stick. When it gets down to brass tacks, humanity doesn't screw around.
I agree there needs to be a balance, though the Florans are already pretty aggressive. I'd have no problem making humans the most aggressive species to play...no, I take that back. My love of Star Trek gives me hope for the humans still, that is of course until we evolve into weird amphibians..worst....episode....ever!
Not at all! Someone really dropped the ball on that one! Perhaps there can be an Easter egg in the game that transforms humans into weird amphibians for a day? Then we shall never speak of it again lol.
Yeah, but the florans are strictly carnivorous, aren't they? They kill to survive, we kill to have fun. Especially if our target is non-human. Honestly, so long as humans in Starbound don't wind up being either the all-rounders or the zerg species (Y'know, the ones who are so incompetent, weak and useless individually that the only way they can accomplish anything is through sheer numbers) I'll be happy. If we get to be anything, I say we get to be Da Orkz of the Starbound universe.
Yeah I'm down with that. Humans are the scourge of the universe, so maybe we need a creature that looks like an Orkney but is a symbol of peace. For example, the Gutterfrugs they look like a bubbling mass of goo, but they are super friendly?
