Patch tonight/soon (confirmed by Omni) - Wipe required

Me and you corrupt player files!!!! so we both have nothing to lose

 

Totally agree, most people don't come here or even know about the Stages. They should of put that in there, and then on the launcher in big bold letters "This is Stage 1 of the beta, expect multiple character wipes and possible data loss!".

 

I accidentaly deleted my save files when i tried to re-install the game in an attempt to make the multiplayer work. Yup... i had to go ahead and manually delete the entire starbound folder after steam finished removing it. I figured that the save files would be in the documents folder or something like that, just like in terraria, but nuuuupe. Hey, at least i can play the multiplayer mode now.

Could always simply disconnect from the internet - permanently. that'd do the trick and the internet might even be a better place for it!

Last I heard character wipes were a "probably" but not exactly confirmed. Nice to know for sure now.
Wish information was more centralized.

 

Most people. Yeah right. There was over a million in preorders before the steam version was released. If anything those people are a minority who were too lazy to do their homework on their purchase before making it

 

Lord knows people research before buying a 15$ game on steam.

 

well, i am not 100% sure, but there is the steam setting for SB to "Never update"... so i guess this will do exactly that and prevent any updates.

If they don't they have only themselves to blame. The information was public. All they had to do is put in a little bit of effort. I know that's a novel concept for consumers these days

Say it... say it's a bad idea to include that information on the steam purchase page.

 

It's cool to watch them actually work on it. Even if I dont know wtf is going on.

 

There was 2.2 million in preorders the day the beta went live, and they exceeded 3 million within minutes of the Steam release, though those are not documented on the site. I'm not sure what they are at now, but it is likely far far more than what we show on the preorder page. Starbound has been sitting at #1 selling game on Steam for the entire week. Most of those people don't come here.

I agree, but to be fair the wipes are not mentioned anywhere on the Steam store page or the launcher when they should be. They only have themselves to blame for not researching, but it could still turn those players away from the game.. which is good for nobody. They need to include this information on Steam.

 

The stream is really neat. I've never actually seen coding done.
